I've carried 3 long guns so far.

CVA Optima Elite - killed a doe
    Weatherby Vanguard .30-06 - Killed a 10 pt.
tang safety Ruger M77 in .243 - Haven't killed anything with it

I've carried either a 4 5/8" Super Blackhawk or a 7 1/2" NM Blackhawk each time, but haven't gotten anything within 50 yards yet to give them a try.

It used to be an easy decision, I only had one rifle after the WW111 divorce.
That was when I got back into hunting, I only had a Rem 7600 30-06 which is a great whitetail rifle.
I got 15 with it before I began my collecting, which began a voice in my head saying - you must get a deer with every
new deer caliber rifle & revolver & TC pistol.
That has proven to be a task because the 7MM Mag Win model 70 has the reach & optics which continue to dominate
the shooting, except my Wife has this little Savage Model 11 in 7mm 08 which is a knock-em down machine, that is what we
used this year, besides I got a meat buck with the TC Encore 45 cal M/L which has a record like no other since the CHASE
is on during our Muzzle Loader season.

My season lasted about 2 minutes this year....sooo not enough time to even consider a second gun

I DO tend to use a different gun from year to year though

I used 3 so far. An m11 savage in 223, a rem 700 sps in 7mm08 and Smith and Wesson 5904 in 9mm. The only shot taken was with the rem. Osok

Plan on using my 556 Ar this year as well and my 58 cal enfield carbine during ml season.

Three so far for me..... Sporterized Swedish Mauser 6.5x55, 14" Encore handgun in 7mm-08, and a Marlin 30AS in .30-30. Unfortunately none have even been fired at a deer yet this season. Perhaps my luck will change this coming week with the fully rifled, 12 ga. 870 slug gun from the ladder stand in a shotgun zone. ETA.... OOPS... Make that four.... Spent 4 hours in one of the blinds with the 44 Mag. Redhawk on Saturday afternoon.

My wife killed a decent buck on day two of the season with "her" Model 70 in .270 Winchester. One's enough for us, and our property is in Northern MN where the living's tough for a critter. That doesn't mean I stopped hunting. I carried an old Marlin .30-30SC. If I told you I actually even loaded it every day, it'd be a lie.

DPSM is low in our area. One's enough. I was mostly out there for the peace, quiet and chance to learn through observation.

Same here in Arizona. My season was over 2 minutes after sunrise on opening day. I do carry a backup rifle but that and my sidearm really don't count as far as the original question goes. I have changed what rifle I use from year to year. 2 years ago it was a 700 ADL in 270 and was successful. Last year it was a No.4 Mk 1 in military trim but I had no shot last year. This year it was an 1898 Krag Carbine sporterized in the 50's or 60's and was successful.

    Custom Flintlock .50

    Winchester 1892 .38 WCF

    Remington 1100 12 ga

    Dan Wesson M15 6" .357 Rem Mag

    TC Compass 6.5 Creedmoor
    (Won as a Door Prize)

    Howa 1500 .338 Win Mag

#6 is overkill but I felt like a boomer.

Feb 10 is last day of season and if you count Does we can't really limit out so I suspect to use more.

No such thing. Dead is dead.
And if you shoot them in the right spot, meat loss isn't an issue either.
Use that .338, it aint gonna hurt a thing.

I used the Savage 223 rifle to take a deer during that 3 day "Antlerless Only" season back in October. Still got the "Any Deer" tag so I'll take the Remington 721 in 270 out Wednesday for the regular season. Maybe I'll see a buck..?

I know but you should have heard the "What the hell are you shooting" when I took the slightly quartering shot on the 3 yo cull buck with one long spike and a fork . He field dressed 170 lb with the off side shoulder pretty much missing. 180 grain Ballistic Tip, Oops!. Not an elk bullet for sure.

Update to add shot a small doe with m 11 savage 223. Had the AR in the truck, but chose the savage for better vision in the late afternoon.

DA1FD61D-3442-48BB-A9D8-B2B090917EA8.jpeg All these rifles and no deer to shoot. Season is young here, but seems like my buddies and their kids put a beat down on the doe population during youth season.

Mounted a Leupold 2-7X on my new Kimber 84M and got it zeroed this afternoon. Ended up carrying a different rifle to the shooting house though.

    Actually, none. So Far.
The small non typical 14 point and doe were shot with a crossbow.
I am going out Sat for my last doe tag with a Rem 760 pumpgun in .06.

If I could see the irons, I would have like to try my Spanish FR8.

I went deer hunting with my son. Since he was using a rifle in 6.5 Grendel, I took my Israeli Mauser in .308 since he was looking to go for a shot farther than 100 yards. Saw some deer but didn't get a shot.

So for me that's now two, counting deer hunting in close with my flintlock rifle.
