how many duplicates do you own?

None.
I haven't completed getting one of everything, let alone two!

Wait, does it count to have 2 Mossberg 500's, one in 12 ga., and one in .410?
I didn't think so.
I don't even have duplicates in calibers.
Now, that just means you don't have enough guns.

I have 2 Remington Wingmasters in 12 gauge. Both have 20 inch barrels with rifle sights. One was made in 1972 and the other was made in 1982. I also have 2 Colt Pythons. One is a 4" barrel and the other is a 6" barrel. Both were made in 1978.

I've got 2 AR-15s in .223, but of slightly different configurations, and a third AR in 7.62x39.
Also, a pair of Uberti Single Action .45s. Everything else is one of a kind.

2 G26s, set up identically with lasers, night sights and talon grips. Its my carry gun and yes I really like it. Look at it this way they share magazines, batteries, ammo and holsters. Not the case with a different model. They are also the only handguns I own.

I am starting to buy duplicates. My personal philosophy is that if it's worth having, it's worth having more than one of.

I don't have duplicates per se. I do, though, tend to buy things in pairs. I have two AR15s, but they are configured differently. I have a Mossberg 500 and 590A1, a Buck Mark and a Buck Mark Micro, a Marlin 60 and 75C. I also have an M1 Garand and an M1 Carbine. Does that count? :)

I am a firm beliver that if a pistol is good enough to keep, then it's better to have one for each hand.

2 each S&W 27, 28, 19, 469, Beretta 92, 96, Maks, Toks, and Blackhawks.

Sometimes I find such good deals on rifles and shotguns that I can't resist buying another of the same kind.

I have multiples of several guns. Why not?
Many gun owners can have multiples and STILL have that "something cooler" and probably have multiples of the "something cooler" too!.
If you can, why not?
.

A duplicate is just that... multiples of the SAME gun.
To further indulge my curiousity, why do you have multiples of the same gun?

TwinSavage220A.gif

The pair of Savage 220A in 20ga is preparing for the grandchildren that my 2 daughters started to bless my wife and I with. Currently I behind by "1" so will need to find another sometime soon. So far I've been very lucky to come across both for less then a $100 ($70 and $90 respectifully) and in approximately 90 +% percent condition with little to no handling wear or dings and scratches.

What my plan is, is to find additional barrels and stocks (Savage/Stevens 94A or B) to shorten to fit the youngsters when they're ready, so that they can have a gun set that pretty much original and will grow with them and generations to come.

Quite a few different flavors, actually ... come to think of it, with most of my firearms types I own at least two.

I usually told myself that it was an investment (great argument for self & SWMBO, if required) and, also, in future I could sell the multiples for a profit and still keep a favorite one (or two, or three, ...) of each type for me.

Last November I sold the SVT-40 (of 7) that sported a terrible bore for over $900 (and in the online auction I included clear, focused, well-lit pics of the bore as well as my verbal description) ... I had bought it long distance from a guy for $600 (delivered) who specifically lied about the bore condition in response to my pointed questions.

M1s are on top of this category for me ... I currently have 15 ... sold one a few years back.

Depends on how you look at it. I have six 1911s, but they're all different, although two only differ in the rollmark...

By the way, if someone could tell me the difference between a 5" Kimber "Classic Stainless" and a 5" Kimber "Stainless" it would be appreciated...

And the days will come that you kick yourself for not buying more than one of those $17 NIB GI 1911A1 pistols.:(

I have duplicated a few guns I have mainly because I will buy one then find a "better" one a second time and get that too as something of an upgrade. My intention will be to sell the first, but I never do...

If you consider duplicates as being the same model, then, yes I have duplicates. I think I have 15 of one model, maybe a few more. If Gunkwazy posts in this thread, it will be interesting. :)

None so far. I'd love to have several matched pairs. Not because I'm a Glock nut, or I'm afraid that they'll stop making them, or because two is one and one is none but because I would like to be able to go off double-fisted every now and then. Would like an Old Model Single Six to match the one I have, or another 1860 Richards Transition model, or a pair of 1851 Richards-Mason cartridge conversions, or a pair of fixed sight 4" N-frames, or a pair of 1911's. Thus far, any money I would spend on a duplicate, gets spent on something else entirely. Some day.....we'll see.

Hmm...lemme see.

* 2 Russian M38 Carbines (Bought two when they were on sale for $50/ea)
* 2 CZ82s (Bought one before they went C&R and then couldn't resist ordering a second using my C&R afterwards)
* 4 AR-15s in 5.56, all set up differently. They are fun to have multiples of because you can mix and match uppers and lowers. That makes 4 guns using the ATF definition but 16 if you count different configurations! (I also have one in 9mm)

In an effort to moderate expenditures I've resisted the temptation to duplicate a few guns recently such as another CZ82.
