How many handguns manufactured per year

I kept coming across some post in threads that says "so and so made x many pistols last year" and I kept wondering where they found that info.

I was curious about how many pistols Kimber put out. It was over 62,000 in 2008!

A start

On p 75 0f the March American Rifleman, an article on crime statistics notes more than 4 million guns were sold in 2009. This is described as an increase of 1.5-2% . At the more conservative 2% this gives 200 million.
