How many here have killed a chronograph?

I never have. But I was told a story about a few friends that were trying to get a reading on some slugs in the 12 gauge. One of them accidentally grab some buckshot/double 00… my understanding was that plastic went everywhere, and it was quite a mess.
i can picture that :)

Does "wounding" one count?

While trying to sight-in my Savage Axis (only rifle I've ever had with a scope), I first hit the rod supporting the sky screens on a 1990's vintage Chrony and with a later shot hit the hinge on the left side.

I decided scopes were beyond me and gave the rifle to a friend.

I used my replacement Chronograph the other day and aimed way over the sensors.

It worked fine.

I've been needlessly sending bullets way to close to the base. Until I hit it and had to buy another. Duh.

I took one out because I like to see what my rifle loads are actually doing down range. I used to shoot a target, set the Chrony up a safe distance below the poi and then take a couple of shots. I did pretty well - until one day when I didn’t. The F1’s were already an old model so getting a new one cheap wasn’t so bad but, I left that one out once when it started raining - forgot all about it down range with the battery still plugged in. Now I use math instead of taking one out 200-300yds.
I guess maybe I should of just hopped into the Ol’ Time Machine and come forward to 2017 so I could buy a LabRadar when they first come out but, those old 1990’s Time Machines were real deuterium hogs.:cool:

Unfortunately, my early '90's era Chrono is dying of old age. The skyscreens, brittle from age, have to be duct taped together for use, and now the plastic covering the display is starting to crack.

I know some people try to use their chrono AND shoot targets at the same time... I've always used my chrono independently. I think that eliminates the issue of focusing on the target... and clipping the chrono in the process.
