How many is too many to carry at one time?

I carry two snubs now (one strong side, one weak side). I'm getting a third for in an ankle holster. This makes my reloads incredibly fast. Simply Drop, Draw Shoot. If it takes more than twelve rounds then I got involved in something I shouldn't have.

The most I ever saw on one person though was 18 Ruger Vaqueros. :D
4 shoulder holsters, 1 in each boot top, two small of the back, the rest were around his waist.
His wife still has the picture somewhere. We got him loaded up and then he couldn't move.

THat holster is a Gould & Goodrich, Gold Line Open Top two slot holster, Mod. 800. I bought it so I could pattern the design and build one that suited me better. I've since carried the original one I bought for several years and still like it.

I remember the Asst. Chief telling me once that he was getting the serial numbers of the officers guns. One guy gave him the one off of his sidearm, then pulled one from his pocket, then ankle. When he went for his briefcase, the Asst. Chief, stopped him, and said " That's enough!"
Kind of like the one officer who came to work with an Uzi barrel sticking thru the end of his briefcase. Tackelberry comes to mind,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I only carry one. Some days I'm tempted to carry a second, but, meh.
If I were going to carry a second firearm, I'd carry something like the kel-tec sub-2000 or sub-16 in my backpack. Then the handgun would be to give me the time to retrieve the carbine.

But: too many is when you're having trouble running like normal, or you can't reliably conceal them.

My daily carry is always two(IWB and pocket, or pocket and pocket), and Ive carried three for car trips(ankle). I did four once just to prove a point(IWB, front pocket, back pocket and ankle).

I don't think I've ever carried even two. It's either zero or one.

What kind of scenario are you guys who carry 3 or more guns prepared for? Educate me, I am truly curious.

Just bear in mind....

that no matter how many guns your CCW "authorizes" the police will undoubtedly take ALL you are carrying and KEEP them for the duration of the "investigation" of the incident.

I took my CCW from 3 to 2 just to save time on the required qualification on EACH gun on the card.

I ..carry... only one. During any investigation, the other will take its place.

UNLESS they lift the permit also for the duration.

More and more reasons for pepper spray.

I never carry more than two. I'm a moderate.

Wait, there was that one time I carried a third to the range because the bag was full...

Sounds like a lot of you are the "must wear belts WITH your suspenders" types. :D

I only "carry" one at a time with plenty of spare ammo/mags, although I do have backups in my desk, in my truck, in my brief case, in my garage, etc...

Basically, I plan on using my carry gun to fight my was to an even larger gun cache and position, if necessary.

I guess it depends upon how you define "carry" .

Well if you think about it, a 1911 on the belt, a 5-shot .38 snub on the ankle and a NAA .22 in a jeans pocket isn't hard to carry.

While sitting in a chair that has arms, simply crossing your legs presents the ankle gun for easier access.
Drawing a gun from your waist or pocket while sitting in such a chair is rather difficult if not impossible.

What Crudegt said:

I only carry one. If I can't stop the threat with one gun, and 2 mags, I feel more guns will not help me.

Other than I'm making my way to the belt fed stuff

If I were a LAWYER

I would ....KILL...... to live in their part of town.

I just hope no MULTI carrier is ever brought into court for using one of the guns. Slam-dunk. Don't be a sap.

Be a ....rare..... jury that couldn't be convinced that several guns on the person made him VERY likely to be LOOKING for a fight.

:)

That "logic" will also work for also carrying pepper spray, using hollow point ammo, having night sights/laser, carrying several extra magazines or having another gun in your car.

The bottom line is either you are justified to use lethal force or you are not.

And yes I am always "on the lookout for" a fight, so I can avoid it if at all possible.

Only an idiot goes looking to start a fight with a handgun.
That's what bulldozers are for. :neener:

Dream on. I would like to know if there is a ratio between assets and carry options.

One who is judgment proof due to modest assets can pretty well discard common sense as they have nothing to lose anyhow.

The plaintiff who sues you will find his lawyer by YOUR assets.
