Seems like everyone in cyber land has a friend who was a sniper or shot on a military rifle team but me. I belong to a large gun club, over 2500 members, shoot competivly and know a good number of post military people but no 'snipers'. So my question is where do I find my own and how many 'snipers' are really out there.

I do know a guy who was a 'snipe' in the Navy, but he told me that was a Boilers Mate. lol

You find this all over the place. I work at a VA hospital, everybody wears CIB's, Heck, more SF tabs than I can shake a stick at. Out of the literally thousands of guys I talk to, only two ever admitted to being a cook, many fewer ever admit to being "the supply guy" LOL

Everyone has PTSD and combat wounds. Very few Purple Hearts though (VA med records tell me). (note the sarcasm)

Before someone comes along and jumps my crap, while I did hold 19K as an MOS, I only spent about a year and a half crewing, the rest was in my other MOS, 77F, yes, driving trucks, pumping gas, and delivering stuff to line units. I admit, I was a REMF most of my 9 years in. Even my last duty station was cush by REMF standards, Range Control at Ft Bliss, LOL.

Depends what you call a "sniper". It's not as exact as being a Ranger or awarded an SF tab. There are different levels of sniper schools, some are run at the division level as needed. Then, you have the designated marksmen which many may call a sniper but doesn't mean they went to the above school.

My point being, it's subjective and not as easy to call out as some other things. Guy may well have served like that in some ways but may not have proof of it on his records. Or, he may have been to the school and never served in the roll.

And no, in all my years in I was not, nor am I claiming to be a sniper.
