How many of you out there with Conceal Carry Weapon Permits have one gun for home

G17 w/night sights in FAS1 safe mounted on bed frame is dedicated HD gun with 1201BP as backup close by.
G26 w/night sights is normal carry gun.
P3AT is running or bicycling gun or just when I need something small enough to pocket carry.

Like many folks here, I have HD guns secured in various places at home (three floors, workshop, and garage). Whatever I am carrying for a CCW on a given day (today a PF-9), is what will be in my vehicle with me.

How many of you just use the same gun for both home & personal protection/conceal carry?

I keep one handgun out of the safe at a time and that gun goes with me when I leave the house.

I don't like the idea of an unsecured gun in the house when I'm gone, I don't like those little nightstand safes (I want instant access to my gun at night) and I'd never leave a gun in the Jeep unattended unless I'm at a class 4 restaurant(per Ohio law) then it's locked in a box.

I CCW whenever I'm awake........

At home or away, I have a Ruger .357 mag. SP101, at my side. And, in my night stand as I sleep.
My DSW feels more comfortable that way. She has a 9mm, at her bedside.
A 12 ga. is beside the bed, too.
I have an old beater 12 ga. behind the seat in my truck for a "truck gun".
And, that's all I'm talking about.;)

For some reason most police departments have switched to this caliber. Was the .40 cal created for law enforcement use? Sort of like between a 9mm and a .45 ACP.

the .40SW was developed in the late 80's or early 90's by Smith and Wesson and Winchester (i think) at the request of the FBI. The FBI had been using the 10mm, and i believe that they wanted something that could fit into a 9mm sized frame and maybe something with a little less kick. so, they kept the diameter (10mm) shortened the case, and came up with the .40 SW. It is a larger diameter bullet than the 9mm by 1mm, shoots heavier bullets, and can still be put into a 9mm sized frame. it has more capacity than most .45's, with almost the power, a few less bullets than the 9mm, with slightly more power.

IMHO, the power thing is sort of a non issue. with good loads and proper placement, the 9, 40, and 45 are all capable rounds. but the .40 has been very popular for leo's

one gun what is that we have several from hunting long guns to short barreld shotguns to our bird guns and carry guns to coletible guns I dont know what one gun is we are just gun poor.

Got 'em all over the house from an 870, to 1911, to SR9, to S&W J-frame, to 22's. Destination and/or attire will dictate what me and the wife carry when leaving the castle.

I "bag carry" and my bag is always within reach whever I am. Problem solved!

I have two (or more). I have a small Kel-Tec for carry and a Sig P250 and S&W .38 for home defense. Both home guns are DAO, just pick up and pull the trigger, no safeties to worry about fumbling with.
Just like a revolver just pick it up and shoot it. I like this or revolver cause you can have single action/double action.
But for an auto I don't know if I would care for DAO only.

I don't like those little nightstand safes (I want instant access to my gun at night) .

I feel the same way, so since I don't have kids in the house anymore I simply leave the door open at night and the gun is right there next to my pillow in the same exact location every night. With a little practice at knowing where it is positioned, I believe it is one of the fastest ways to retrieve your handgun in the middle of the night while it stays holstered until you need it. In the morning simply push the lid closed and you gun is secured for the day and still very accessible.

In the winter (or colder days) I carry a Sig 245 or 220. My prefered HD weapon is my Benelli M1 S90, but nightstand duty is relegated to my older Sig 220.

When it's nicer out, my carry weapons range between a Colt Mustang to a PM9 to a Glock 26.

I have a 442 in my pocket right now, because I'm "at home", typing on a computer. When I came home from work, I had a LCP in my pocket and a S&W 411 IWB. If I was out on the Ponderosa, I'd have a 442 in my pocket, and something else on my hip, sometimes a S&W M64, sometimes a Judge Ultralite, sometimes a 9mm or .40 auto. Often I'll have a 30-30 lever in the pasture truck or cab-tractor too if I'm motoring. If it's sleepy-time and I meet you with my underwear on, it's probably a 5904.

...What was the question?

Long guns for primary with a light railed handgun as back up for home defense.

Carry gun does not have a light rail and is for carry only.

Yes 12 GA. for home and handgun for back-up. Perhaps special situations may call for a 30.06 for long range distance or a repeating semi-auto rifle for riots.

I carry an STI Shadow for CCW and in the truck, but for home I went with an XD45 Tactical for the extra capacity and ability to mount a laser/light combo TLR-2.

PF-9 is my carry piece and she sleeps on the nightstand. The trusty 870, loaded with 00, sleeps between the bed and nightstand and keeps me and the PF-9 company. Other guns are stored strategically around the house. The girlfriend tells me I'm crazy and paranoid. I tell her with guns no further than an arms reach, what have I got to be paranoid about.

I usually carry a .22 revolver and/or Hi-Point .40 (don't hate) in the truck, along with the PF-9 in my pocket.

This is true alot of people do this. But what does one do in the bathroom?

If I'm wearing pants. The PF-9 is probably in my pocket. And usually the girlfriend is home, she doesn't carry but I wouldn't want to be in a fire fight with her. The little lady can shoot.
