Curious how many rounds a CZ Evo 3 will last?

Seems pretty cool I just wonder if they are built durable?

Do you think someone could get 50,000 rounds through one without a major overhaul of the gun?

37 rounds and then they break................

Seriously though, I don't think they have been around long enough for anyone to know for sure. I would think you would get many years of enjoyment out of one, but a round count? Who knows.

buy one and find out?

The gun is the cheapest part of that equation .

The question was not really meant too be a cost comparison of ammo vs pistol life, rather pistol life vs availability.

No function problems to speak of so far, but the large mass of the bolt makes me wonder as to how long the CZ may be trouble free. "Hopefully forever"

I can't really tell if the bolt rides on steel or polymer as it cycles. So that is where my durability question arises from.

I was hoping someone may have more insight to how firearms built in this manner last.

All in all it is a very inexpensive gun for what you get which also makes me wonder about longevity.

So the long and short of the question is @ 5k rounds a year should a person buy a spare?

I would be rather surprised if CZ put out something you could wear out in one lifetime. That said, drop them an email and ask about testing they have done and expected life expectancy. I'm sure they have run X rounds through one (or many) to see.

I aspire to wear out a firearm in my lifetime, seriously, need more time and ammo (well, really time now).

Ohen,

I will email CZ and see what they say. The Scorpion looks to have a metal following rod that extends to the rear of the bolt but I can't really tell what keeps the bolt centered and keeps the bolt from twisting in the housing.

It is an interesting design for sure , and really departs from most very thing else I have had apart. I really like how easy it is to clean and shoot.

Thanks

Questions like this always arouse my curiosity.
Did you ask the salesman how many miles your truck will run before it falls apart ?
Did you ask thr real estete agent how long before your new house crumbles in to a pile of toothpicks ?
Do YOU actually do ANY shooting atall, or is this just an exercise in gumbumping to fill time ?
ME....I've spent sixtyfive years trying to see if you can wear out ANY pistol. The only one to fall apart was a Walther P22, the biggest POS gun I ever beheld and my wife trashed it in one year with less that 7M rounds of ammunition. It's replacement , a NEW Walther PP22, has 10M [10,374 actually ...] rounds through it now and still looks absolute brand new.
SO....WHY do you not quit asking and go find out yourself. I already know the answer.
And so it goes...

Wil,

Thanks for your questions. To keep it short the last pistol I sent back to the manufacturer for excessive wear due to shooting was a M and P that had 53 boxes of 180 grn rnfp of xtreme copper plated through it.

I have also had issues with Walther slides wearing heavily around the 17,000 round mark.

Hard to say. It's pretty heavy duty with a large, heavy bolt. I've only got a couple thousand rounds on mine so I can't say but it looks virtually new so far.

It really is like asking how many miles a Toyota Tacoma will get. I've seen them blow up at 50k, and some go past 300k with nothing but regular oil changes.
