How many younger shooters are here?

Mentokk1: Well it's good to see that both you and your dad are getting into the shooting sport because you're never too old. Even though you haven't had anyone to teach you how to shoot, it is a learning experience; you understand the impact a mentor can be and I'm sure you will become a great one to your children and grandchildren. Teaching others is what the sport is about and I personally would rather teach someone how to shoot than win a competition.

My dad did it the same way you are. He taught himself how to hunt and shoot and all about guns using magazines and catalogs and gun shop owners in the 70s and 80s and forums like this one more recently. I was extremely lucky that he raised me the way he did. I grew to love hunting first, then guns, and so I have always respected the destructive potential of a firearm.

I'm 22 years old and can only afford to own a couple of firearms at a time....

1) Springfield Mil-Spec 1911
2) Tikka T3 Scout CTR .308 (Sold away my AR for it)

CharlesT:
Ergonomically, The 75 SA is just about perfect (I'm a lefty so the ambi safety is a requirement), I like having the beavertail and the enlarged safety, and the extended slide rails add to the aesthetics (to me anyways)

The trigger isn't the greatest, kinda gritty and with some creep, so you may want a trigger job on it, but otherwise I love it.

21

Just bought my first gun, its a REM 700 308. Synthetic stock with Simmons 8 point 3x9x40 scope. Pretty excited, I'm still searching for more deals tho! Getting into reloading to. Dads excited since him and his dad use to do it.

How many rounds have you put through it? Mine will probably be a 5000 rounder by the end of the year.

I plan on getting the competition hammer, 13lb main spring, and the flat aluminum trigger with pre and over travel adjustment screws too. :)

I'm 18 and I've been shootin since I was a kid. I'm on a tight budget so I only have a modded Marlin 795, 10/22, Iver Johnson TP22, and a .410 shot gun thats so old it doesn't even have a searal number. I love moding guns and shooting with all my gun freak friends but there is nothing like a day with .22s at the range.

19 (in a week)

Rifles bought new, Handguns bought FTF (Legal in my state)

Taurus 24/7 Pro 9mm
Glock 17
SW MP 15-22
GSG-5
SW MP15
NEF Pardner Protector 12g

I just turned 20 last week. I entered into the gun world with absolutely no support from friends or family. My dad didn't really care, but my mom is one of the sheep of the world. She feels like nothing good can come from owning a gun. She also believes that all dogs should be leashed at all times and. I love my mother; she's just a worrier. Once we were in the car on a trip back from Academy and my dad had to break quickly. My mom asked if the gunpowder spilled out of the bullets. I've been trying to convince them that it's not really all that dangerous if you're responsible. Almost managed to get my mom to come to the range with me! Anyways, here's what this poor college student has:

Marlin Model 60
Rock River LAR-15

I bought myself a Cold Steel AK-47 (knife) for my birthday :)

I'm 20. I guess I'm in a little different position than most of the people here. Instead of having a family that was completely against firearms or completely accepting of them, my parents were fine with me shooting shotguns (even let me start dumping several hundred rounds a week in competitive trap!) but any gun even remotely combative was off limits. I couldn't even TALK about rifles of pistols, and heaven forbid I even think about carrying one. They still don't know about any of the guns that I have...

So, as soon as I got to college I got 2 carry permits and the following collection :D

Sig P228
Mosin Nagant 91/30 (sold)
Springfield Armory XD45
Howa 1500 .300 Mag (sold)
Bersa .380
Bulgarian Makarov

Sad thing is after getting my collection pretty much where I want it (at least until I get a place of my own and can actually store long guns) I've been bitten by the bug to get into sport/race motorcycles and track days. So I have been seriously contemplating selling my XD, Bersa and Mak... It's a viscous cycle... Anybody interested in selling a poor college student a bike?

I'm 20 as well. Family not big into guns, but mom bought me a mosin for my 18th birthday when I asked and I have since convinced her to buy a pistol to keep around (she still gives me a hard time for throwing my pistol in the glove box when I drive around town). Applying for CWP when I turn 21. Sadly, I haven't shot much since I enrolled in college, have to keep my firearms off campus, but will be better next year when I begin leasing a house off campus.

My firearm locker:

- M44 Mosin Nagant (short with attached, folding bayonet)
- 18" synthetic stock Remington 870 in 12. ga.
- Taurus PT-92 (circa '88, no decocker, but have to settle until I can FFL purchase at 21)
- FNP-45 (my favorite, managed to get on private sale from campus police officer who cannot carry due to policy. Practically new, never thought i wound find private sale)
not bad for three years work ;)
Additionally, my 20 year old friend keeps his in my locker:

- DPMS AR-15
- Savage .22 (model ?)
- Glock 22 ( full size .40) 2nd generation (again, waiting for FFL clearance)

I'm 22, and have an WASR-10/63, and a Bersa Thunder 380. Both are great, and I hope to get more guns, preferably a Mosin or other bolt action milsurp rifle, as well as a Remington 700 ADL with a scope. There might be more in the future, but that's what I have and want.

Well im 19 and absolutely love all my guns.

I'm 20. Always had guns in the house for hunting and my dad kept his pistol in his sock draw for home protection. So the guns in my house were only ever used for hunting. When I turned 18 my first stop was my local gun shop to pick up a shot gun, I bought an Ithaca 37 and 2 weeks after that I picked up a .22lr a few months after that I picked up a Hi-Point 995 for my fiance to shoot(the gun is too small and uncomfortable for me, and I hate the plastic feel any way.) And now i'm saving up for an AR build. My 21st birthday is right around the corner and I can't wait to turn in my application to purchase a handgun=)

I aquired a shot my first firearm when I was 21 and am now 22 with a...

1) DPMS AP4 .308
2) Romanian AK-74
3) Mossberg 500
4) Taurus 1911

Next: GSG 522 (still want a Saiga 5.45 though)

It's too bad you don't live in Arizona. Here it is legal to carry a handgun at age 16 with the written consent of your guardian. Nothing formal such as a permit, is necessary, just a note from Mom and Dad stating they have given consent for you to carry. I don't think it will permit concealed carry, but even so at least a good teen can be allowed to carry responsibly in our state. I think the law is a little more relaxed with long guns, though I'm quite sure the note from Mom and Dad is surely necessary. I was 16 years old and riding my bike out to a camping spot outside of town with a friend of mine, when it became necessary for me to defend my life, and that of my friend. Unfortunately that wasn't my first encounter with a deadly threat. I don't want to open that can of worms right now, rather again, so close to my last post on that topic.

I am 19 years old and have been around guns for several years at my job...i never really had any relatives who taught me anything about gun ownership and safety when i was growing up, so i read and researched for several years bought a .22 when i turned 18......then another then another...:) and so on...now i have a good friend who is a gunsmith who lets me watch him work and help him. I am slowly picking up on more information on how to put together guns take them apart rebuild etc. I now am the go to person when it comes to gun transaction at my job and im always open to learning more, that's why i joined THR

at the present moment i have 2 10/22 Rugers, an Izzy Mosin Nagant, A Kel Tec Su-16, Remington nylon 66, Remington sportsman 58 16ga shotgun, Norinco SKS.....and im working on more weekly :D

I carry a Sog Flash 2

I love guns and when i eventually have kids myself i hope to teach them the same things i have learned and am learning
