How much ammo do you guys keep on hand?

Well, I'm at the point where I use 30mm and 40mm cans for storage. .50 fatboys are range ammo boxes.

Last I counted, I know it was over 40k. I'm pretty sure it's over 50k now. Only 19k of it is .22LR. ;)

Need some more ammo cans. Need some more .22LR. Need some more components.

Have a stack of full cans, and another stack of components. Don't know how many of what I've got, except it's not enough because I like to use it, not just have it.

A minimum of thousand rounds for the AK and SKSs because thats the most gun i plink with . The rest are a few hundreds .

i had about 5k assorted rifle ammo back before i enlisted. now that i live in the base housing i cant keep guns or ammo in my room.

The very minimum amount I ever like to keep on hand is enough to fully stuff all the mag pouches on my "war belt" for each of my main go-to rifles, plus one mag in the rifle, which is 90 for the 7.62x51, and 189 for 5.56. I like to have an extra 500-1000 rounds per rifle in storage if I can swing it, but it doesn't always happen (or if it does, it doesn't last very long)!

I like to keep enough components around to get me through a year's worth of matches without having to buy more. Or to take a training class on a whim. Rates are better buying in volume. And I hate the components I want being out of stock right when I need them. So I pre-pay, if you will, through buying in big bunches.

I don't load it until I start to need more again.

2000+ .22lr
1000+ .223/5.56x45
500+ .308/7.62x51
500+ 9mm
400+ 12ga
200+ .32ACP

> 3600ish = Not enough

Generally load 300 to 400 per month for the last 8 years, you do the math. Shoot about 200 every 4 months or so. I still have a lot to shoot up.

More than some, less than others. I can't conceive of a situation where I'd think to myself "wow, I wish I didn't have this much ammo". Moving is a pain.

Well, its been a long time since I got certified, but I suspect I'd need a DOT 1.4S placard to move it all at once.

For my ARs I have 40 fully loaded magazines, ~2000 rounds loose and ~4000 rounds on stripper clips.

For my pistols I keep at least 6 mags loaded for each and about 3000 rounds on hand loose.

On hand now:
800 .223
600 .45
1000 9 mm
