There are a few I need to focus on getting more of.

I am keeping 2 yrs worth of supply on hand.
10,000 - .22lr
5,000-.22WMR
2,000-9mm
2,000-.38 spec
500-.357 Mag
300-30-30
300-30-06
500-.223
These are my new minimums, if I find some on sale for a good price I will buy more. I also reload shotgun shells and 20g has become my new favorite. I have enough supplies on hand for 5 yrs of steady shooting with that.

How much I keep on hand is my business. I like to have plenty on hand. I shoot whenever I can, and if I get a chance to shoot 2k rounds, I will. I don't want to come home from the range and be out of ammo, so I have plenty. Anytime I find my ammo, if the price is right and I have the funds I'll buy it. If I start to run low on a caliber, I switch caliber. I wont claim to have made all the right decisions and to have gotten all the best prices, because I haven't. I can say I haven't paid cheaper than dirt prices. I have friends that have needed ammo, and Ive helped them out. I did not gouge them. They paid what I paid. Some family members even like it as a birthday gift. Next hobby will be learning how to reload, and Im looking forward to it (been saving my brass). When I pass on, if I have left over ammo, Im sure my family wont complain.

My "stocks" depend largely on how many rounds of each caliber I tend to shoot. Handguns and semi-auto rifles tend to go through ammo quickly, so I keep more of that on hand than I do for some of my old bolt action rifles that I rarely shoot (or only shoot a few rounds through at any given time).

My most significant stock is in .22LR. Although I never really tried to stack this stuff high and deep, it's available cheaply and in bulk (under normal market conditions). As such, I had about 2,000 rounds of it on hand around Thanksgiving last year. Then, just as the panic was taking off, I had a friend give me a partial case of unwanted .22lr ammo that had been damaged in a shipment to his employer (who wanted the ammo disposed of). As such, I picked up quite a good bit of .22LR ammo at that time, with a few squished boxes out of the lot. So, I'd estimate that I was sitting on 7,000 rounds of .22lr right before the panic really set in. I was going to start giving it away when I first got it, then it suddenly disappeared from shelves EVERYWHERE. As such, I became more reluctant to part with it, and have instead slowly given some out to some close friends who I've found in need.

There was a time when I reloded for 17 different calibers. That didn't make sense.
Now I only load for the calibers I actually use, rather than having a bunch of different novelty stuff. That comes down to 9mm and .223.
As for how much is enough... Try this-
Load up your bug out bag, along with the guns you would intend to bring. Now add to your load by tacking on ammo, 100 rounds at a time. Do this until you collapse. That's a bit more than enough.
I keep my reserve ammo in various bags that weigh between 15 and 20 lbs.
For general use stuff, I just rotate from the oldest supply and replace with the latest batch. The idea is to keep a bit more than enough on hand, with none of it being more than about 5 years old.
PS- I feel that it's a BAD idea to tell anyone exactly how much you have. Too many people feel that they've "seen something", and feel the need to "say something".

Always 500 more rounds than you currently have.

Any new rifle I purchase also gets a concurrent 1000 round ammo purchase unless I'm just completely unsure it won't shoot it well enough for meaningful target practice.

Why would you post on a public forum what you have?
Because that is probably not what they have. One could conclude that those who post have small amounts while those who dont may be holding large stashes.

Anyway I saw Estate 25 count boxes of 00 Buck for $17.49. Good price or bad. I ask as I don't normally shoot 00 Buck but thought I ought to have a few rounds.

For a 25 count box that is not a bad price, I was paying $3.95 for a box of 5 rounds of 00 Buck.
