how much should I pay for a #580 Mini-14?

I've been thinking long and hard about this one. Well, the Mini14 has many drawbacks but it is still probably the best and most proven un-neutered semi auto rifle short of the M1A (which I am also buying) available here in CA.

I already have the KelTec Su16CA.

I also plan to get the M1 Carbine, but if given a choice between the M1 Garand and the MIni14 I wil have to go .223 .. availability of cheap ammo, shares with the SU16, detachable magazines.

The question is, how much should I offer for one? I see prices on GB ranging from $500 to $1500!! and i belive most of these are the older series.

If someone knows a good palce that has them (I have an FFL lined up), please PM me too.

A Wal-mart in Albuquerque had a new one for (IIRC) about $570 a couple weeks ago. I certainly wouldn't pay much more than that.

I got to look(fondle if you will) at a couple Mini 14s. It seems like the receiver is aluminum? And badly cast at that, they are all flaky and cast looking. It also seemed kinda, flimsy.

For the money, I would just get like an M1 Garand/Carbine or something.

Mr. Cuts, your link is to the older lessaccurate slimmer barrel version

The Deer Hunter, The barrels are Stainless Steel and teh new 3580's are heavier than the older ones. More like the M16 barrels. I've compared them.

1911_Mitch, What is the serial # 580+ ? Abrand new never fired is not much mor than you're asking.
