Id pretty much always wanted one, but it wasnt doable until 21, so 3 days after my birthday I was at the gunshow and picked out my Sig 226.

Don't know if it counts, but my first rifle (other than pellet) was handed to me by an armorer at Fort Knox during basic training.

It was a Vietnam-era full-auto M-16. Most of the other guys were getting the three round burst rifles. I was just lucky! Night fire with tracers was like having an out-of-body experience!

I had to shoot the H&R 10 ga magnum single shot first, whether out of my dad's skewed sense of humor or (more likely) to instill in me the true dangers of firearms. I was 12, and he gave me my grandfather's Savage FOX 20 ga. sxs.
I still have that gun, and its still my favorite.

My Dad thought that BB guns were dangerous, so I never owned one.

As a result, I shot my first .22 at age 8, and it resided in my closet by age 10 to be used whenever I wanted without adult supervision. I received my own .22 at age 11, and my first 12 gauge at age 12.

The original prohibition of BB guns remained until this past year when I purchased my first air rifle to accompany my 50+ "powder actuated" guns.

I learned how to shoot when I was around 12 and shot other people's guns from time to time, but I didn't buy my first gun until I was 35. I made up for lost time though. I bought my first gun in September and now I have six.

At 9 years old

At nine years old my grand father gave me a Remingtion 22 pump rifle.
I was nine, ( month of June - turned 10 in August that year) at the time, just doing a summer trip out to Oklahoma, that was when I got it. Was hunting alone or w/ others my same age at 11 and 12. My parents had faith in me.

first gun was a pellet gun at 8yrs old. 12 years old i got a ithaca lever action .22lr single shot.

never could figure out why it was a lever. you pull the lever down, place the new bullet in the chamber. then lever up closes it. pull the hammer and fire. (no safety what so ever). then pull the lever open (the old shell pops out) and repeat.

First started when I was 19, and my first shots were with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Seveal hundred rounds later I've still got the same 12 gauge and I'm still shooting a box of ammo through it whenever I can.

First was a BB gun. Don't remember how old I was. Next was a .22/410 over and under Savage. Loved that gun. STOLEN several years ago.

I was (and still am) 22 when the NYPD gave me a Sig Sauer P226 9mm. For my Christmas/Academy graduation present my parents bought me my S&W 3914. Then about a month ago I bought my S&W Model 13 (the first gun I actually paid for).

I was 19 when I first bought a firearm, an AK WASR.

After my parents kept telling me that I will never bring a gun in their house and insulting my hobby as a firearms enthusiast, I got sick of it!

Me and my brother went straight to Dunhams and bought the AK. Then we went outside where a military helicopter was waiting for us with a squad already inside. So we got in the heli and it started to go up. I said to every body "We're going home!" They screamed "YEAH!!!". So we got to our house and we saw a bunch of cars parked in the driveway and realized that other family members have came to visit.

The heli touched down and we all piled out. We rushed to the front of the house. Just as my mom was telling other family members in the house that I'm never going to get a gun as long as I live in their house, me and Chuck Norris busted down the front door, AK in hand!!!

Then we froze and then the music started playing, then the credits started rolling.

:what: :D

BOOM!!!

I hope this counts. The year was 1973. I was 8. My father was an ordinance engineer for a living and designed some projectiles for a local cannon collector for fun. Dad designed some 25-pound rifled projectiles for him and we went to the range to test them. That was not to be the first gun I fired, but did get to pull the cord on a Cohorn mortar - complete with a can full of cement and a 20-foot red streamer. The blast from that beast felt like it lifted me from the ground and I remember looking up through the smoke to see the can of cement disappearing from view. When it finally came down, it made a huge thud and had to be dug from the ground.... The second gun I fired was a Bruce Fed 1893 Gatling gun....Awesome and not a bad start eh? ;)

20 gauge single shot, age 6. :)

I got a super beat up Savage .22 the next year, and when I was 11 my father said that I "demonstrated proficiency and responsibility pursuant to a larger caliber." For my 12th birthday, he gave me his father's Remington Model 11 twelve gauge.

Seriously though, he did in fact say that part in the quotation marks. I'll never forget it :D

When I was 16 (this was in 1969) my Dad bought me a used S&W model 10. I used to carry it over to a local irrigation ditch and shoot into the 7 foot dirt bank. Today the cops would be all over you. God how I miss the those days!

12 yrs old. Mossberg .410 my dad bought for my birthday. Had it for 18 years before it was stolen in a burglary. I was sad to lose it for it had great sentimental value to me.

Got three different Valmet M62's in the army but I had to leave them there when I got off... :uhoh: soon thereafter I bought my first 9mm Taurus PT99 pistol.
