I was 47

I didn't start shooting until dad gave me the .32 he brought home from WWII. That got me started.

I used to walk around at our cabin and shoot varmints with my Remington Targetmaster. A pocket full of shells - some birdshot, some .22 short - constant reminders on safety, a rule that I had to deeply bury what I shot and a whole mess of furniture-eating chipmunks to shoot.

I started at 7 years old.

Hi Guys!
I'm just joined THR and really seem to like it so Far.

I was 8 or 9 yrs old and I remember it being a Daisy BB Rifle that my twin brother shot me in the elbow with.
Funny Bone my Arse!:D

You did not have a poll option for me so i did not answer , when i arrived i had a pre 64 mod 70 waiting on me ( at the time it was a regular elk gun ) . I have continued this with my grandkids , once one is on the way i get a good rifle and put it back .. so far its pre 64 winchesters .

17 also. Only a couple of years ago. Sometimes I feel I missed out on the great guns, but then I realize that you only know the great guns after they are gone. I'm sure in twenty years well will be talking about how we could buy a unissued Yugo SKS for $150 the same way some of us talk about getting M1 carbines for $20 a few decades ago.

21. Bought my first handgun at 21.

Growing up no one in the family had or talked about guns, so I had no exposure to them.

For some reason I always had a vague interest in guns and always knew that when older I'd want to have at least a gun to keep for defense...just seemed to make sense to me.

So I taught myself about guns and that was it. Now I've passed it on to my GF, some friends, and trying to get one for my Mom too.

I bought my first gun at age 15..... It's a Winchester 9422 shortly after they came out with the model... 99.95 at Caldors( it was a local department store up here in Connecticut).. still have the receipt.

I got my first gun when I was 14 and that was almost 8 years ago. The funny thing is that I picked up a tube of Hoppe's gun oil that day also. I traded the gun away, but I still have that tube of oil, and there's still some left.

9 yrs old , single shot 20 g . Wish I still had it .that thing had taken quite a few rabbit, squirrels, and a few deer .

I was 24 and a friend of mine brought over his Ruger MKII. I never owned a gun but I have been around them all my life. I asked my friend a bunch of questions about the Ruger and he said lets go the the gun store. They had several used ones to choose from. I didn't have much money at the time so I picked the cheapest one they had. Ruger MKII target bull barell for $155. The bad thing was I bought it about 2 weeks before my girlfriends birthday so I couldn't get her anything. She wasn't very happy and she still reminds me about it 13 years later. Yes we are married now. I still have the girl and the gun. Since then I have gave her a few guns on her birthday because she is a shooter too.
