I have my Heritage western-style revolver all apart.
I can figure out how to reassemble, but I'd sure like a step-by-step guide for a similar gun to go by.

Is there any such on a website or a downloadable document?

I bet some of you can do this blindfolded.
If you can relate the proper sequence that would be a big help

Thanks

Rex

by Heritage, I'm assuming you have a rough rider single action?

Hope it helps.

Got that

What I really need is the sequential steps. The way it came apart, reassembly wasn't all that intuitive. Several parts are connected, but is it best to connect them before inserting into the frame?
And what about that little part I just put in and now I have to take it back out so this other will go in.?

That sort of thing ;)

Somewhere I have that sort of explanation for a 1851 Navy, and that ight suffice, but I'd prefer something a little more contemporary.

Thanks

Rex is a guy.
Guys do that with-out needing a reason. :D
It's just part of us.
Some of us guys can just control it better than others.

Not to hurt any feelings.... if the exploded diagram provided doesn't give you the intuition on how to re-assemble the revolver then you should probably finid a smith to put her back together for you. Of course I would try to do it for several attempts before quitting. Stuff usually comes apart much easier than putting stuff back together.

Hi Rex

I'll try to help here - if i'm not successful in helping you may consider the revolver assembly & disassemble book by J.B. Wood . They can sometimes be found used in the $5 - $6 range on ebay or used book sights.

The assembly basically starts by placing the hand onto the hammer and inserting these parts into the frame from the bottom side. Secure with the hammer pin . (hand with spring slides into the frame slot)

Then place the cylinder lock and trigger in there proper locations and secure with the trigger screw. (the trigger screw goes through both the trigger and the pivot hole in the cylinder lock.

Install the combo trigger & cylinder lock spring .

Make sure the gate, gate spring ,and follower are in place, and install the lower frame.

Snug down the screws and install the hammer spring.

That is the basic sequence . If you get stuck on something PM me and I will try to work it through with you. Good Luck !

just right

That's exactly what I needed. For whatever reason, it did not come apart in the reverse of that sequence.
I've ordered a new hand for it, should be in midweek.

Gunkwazy is right on the money. I'm of the "take it apart and one of these days I'll get around to buying that $2 part and put it back together" clan. Right now I have 3 metal lathes in that condition, and one high-dollar race car.
Maybe I'd better spend some time at the shop today.

Thanks for all the input.

Rex
