How would you have handled this? I slipped during conversation tonight.

I'm just looking for those of you who choose not to disclose it deal with either evading the topic, or if something like this happens - I'm looking for easy ways to change the subject

I hear ya, I have members of my family that don't agree with guns in the hands of citizens. I too have to avoid/dance around the idea I even have them sometimes (not because I'm ashamed, but in the interest of peace @ family gatherings). What else can you do, but try to:

*Not bring it up
*Obfuscate in a way that doesn't peak interest

I think it's inevitable when someone leads a double life (carrying a gun and pretending you don't). You're going to experience some tension, even a slip up from time to time. For me, what makes it harder is that I have a large group of co-workers/friends that are perfectly OK w/ carrying, and other friends and family that aren't. In one circle I can be perfectly open, and in another I have a little secret. It's tough, and that's all there is to it. Good luck, you're screwed either way!

Enough with the posts inferring that you have to be a lying scumbag to be an attorney. I'm not even an attorney yet and I find it somewhat offensive.
You can absolutely be an attorney and have integrity. In fact, almost all of the attorneys I personally know are honest hard working people.
I agree.
I don't see a point to this thread anymore. All I was looking for was ways to skirt around the CWP conversation that seemed to be approaching at the time. Instead it's spiraled into "How silly it is that I don't openly tell people that I carry." and "Why I shouldn't become an attorney." I really don't feel that I need to defend my positions on either of those anymore.
You don't have to defend your position anymore.

When a person states they find jokes and inuendos assailing their character and integrity offensive, the jokes and inuendos need to cease. Address the question, lawyer jokes are irrelevant to the issue at hand. As I said in my first post, fingerprints are taken for any number of applications, and this delima could apply to a wide variety of people, not just attorneys.

Go in peace.
