While I have only shot 10 shots through the Howa, 5 of them for sighting in, it is showing promise. My guess is that with my reloads it will be a consistent .5" gun.
Got out in the drizzle and wind today to do the barrel break-in. Threw a set of rings on and a cheap 1.5-6 scope I had laying around on it. Never got much copper on the patches so went 1 and clean for first 5 then 2 and clean for next ten. Put the second 10 rds in a 3" bull at 100 wth a cluster within an inch. Not great but with wind and random reloads for my AR, not bad. Found the 10rd mag works real good as a palm rest in offhand. Went 50/50 6 shots on the 12" steel plate at 200yds. Looks like a keeper.
I was able to get to the range again as well. Tried my 68 and 77 grain loads and was getting very little vertical but lots of horizontal. I am thinking the barrel is contacting the stock channel on one side and am going to inlet it some more.
The action is nice and smooth, and feeds great from the magazine. Trigger is really nice for a factory setup.
