Human Shields for Iraq

I keep hearing the word "Treason" coming from somewhere! Sounds like they will be in the right place at the right time to save the taxpayers a few bucks and time. I beleive treason is still a capital offense. :banghead: :D

I wonder if Saddam might decide to make some reporter chum... blow up/dismember some of the "human shields" and then spread them thickly in front of bombed buildings for the news crews to photograph.
I can't wish that sort of harm on anyone but I'm afraid they won't come to their senses until they hear the whistling noise. Too late to do anything but besan los kulos adios. :what:

Too bad we can't kidnap Kim IL Jong (or Jong IL), I forget and Fidel to accompany them. As a bonus we could through in Noriega while we are at it.

This is all funny and great - ha ha - until some poor grunts in country get the word that 'American Civilians' are pinned down in some remote corner of this festering pile of rubble. Then our devoted soldiers get to do a house-to-house fight ala Blackhawk Down or Drew Dix to go recover these nitwit humanshields. I will be pissed as hell if one of our guys takes a hit trying to save some ungrateful treasonous lemming POS that will probably just denounce the soldier's effort when they get back safe and sound. This makes me really :cuss: :fire:

You know.. about the stupidest place to be in a gunfight is betweeen the people shooting at each other.

Legality aside.. sounds like a very stupid thing to do. Last time Saddam took hostages, and we didn't stop. Doubt we would this time either.

Imagine this scenario:

"Firefox one-niner do you have the target in sight?"

"uh negative Big Joe, looks like we have a crowd obscuring the view"

"Firefox, uh.. what is this crowd wearing?"

"damndest thing Big Joe, they have peace signs, are holding hands, looks like a bunch of rejects from the Rainbow Gathering"

"Firefox can you smell patchouli?"

"uh roger that Big Joe, we have boucoup patchouli"

"Ok firefox aim your mortars 100 meters behind the crowd and fire for effect.. thats GOT to be an important target!"

Another New Zealander (in the original post) dishonouring all good, honest, God fearing, blood thirsty Kiwis. :(

Shouldn't we be able to revoke their citizenship or something? For collaborating with the enemy?

Ggggrrrrr.

Actually, the EX-Marine (and I'm sure all the REAL Marines on this forum will appreicate me calling him that) that's heading up this group apparently renounced his US citizenship.

So he's not a traitor anymore, just a moron. *shrug*

Nightcrawler, This guy is a real piece of work. He's renounced his citizenship, and therefore cannot have a residence in the US. He has a house in Hawaii and claims to be a resident of the sovereign nation of Hawaii which he claims is no longer part of the United States and is an independant nation. Until he relinquishes his property in Hawaii, he's still an American Citizen.

the US will be nice and try to avoid killing these people. we will try to shoot around them, indirect fire behind them, get them out of the way, etc.

the iraqis will just shoot them, mortar them, etc, and blame it on us for their propganda machine.

europe, the press, and the US blissninnies will believe iraq, making it harder for us to finish the job due to a drop in public support; afterall, iraq would never kill people trying to stop the US's war, would they?

Don't know if it's true but I was reading this morning that they want to send in 800 cruise missles in the first 2 days of the war. I think they called it "shock and awe". If true, that's about twice as many as we used the last time. Human shields won't have much chance. The last I heard cruise missles didn't discriminate and while we are told they are reasonablly accurate, I wouldn't want to be around one when it went off. As that great philosopher MR. T would say, "I pity the fool"!
