I have a different understanding of the word "humane" I guess.
"Humane" to me means that you feed your livestock before you feed yourself and that you put down animals as duty requires.
If hunting, when given an option, I shoot the tastiest (smallest) animal I can. Otherwise, I take the first and best legal shot that I get. You can buy your processed soy that comes up from Mexico, and I'll take what is offered up to me. Since we're criticizing how people choose to feed their families, I think vegans shouldn't be allowed to raise children as it's been demonstrated several times to be a sure recipe for malnutrition.

If you read the last part of that quote, you'll realize it says turn of the century. You're thinking of the wrong century. That's not yesterday, that's 100 years ago. Do you have any more relevent/less stale information?"stocked deer in the state at the turn of the century."
