My wife's uncle came over with a rifle for sale. It's a Remington 7400 in 30-06 high gloss finish. Came with 3 5 rd magazines and a Nikon buckmaster 3-9x40.

I honestly dont think you could tell it from a new one if they were side by side. The wood looks great. He said it was only 2 years ld at most.

I paid 350.00 for all. I figured i could probably sell it for a little more if needed. Anyway, this is my first semi auto "deer rifle" I mainly use boltactions.I know it probably isnt as reliable as a BAR but im anxious to try it out.

This seem like a pretty decent deal? Anybody have problems with them?

I own a 740 from the first year of production- they are good rifles, and reliable if you maintain them well- don't let it get wet, get a spare recoil spring, CLEAN it after EVERY shoot!
It may seem complicated but after you tear it down a few times you will find that it is very simple-
they are nicknamed the "Jammomatic" because people didn't care for them properly
the model number lineage is 740, 742, 7400 when you do searches- only minor variations
parts are available from gunpartscorp.com
They are not the most accurate and i have the most fun with mine using iron sights... the scope that was on it does more good on my Marlin 30-30

good price, good buy, good bye :)

Thanks. I was looking at the scope and new they are 175-200.00. I was thinking this was the cheapest Nikon but apparently it's one up from the prostaff.
