One of my missions for this weekend is to get out and shoot my .45's. But I'm low on reloads. Last night I checked the cabinet where I keep all my primers: small pistol primers, large rifles primers, but no large pistol primers.

Dang.

The nearest shop to me that carries reloading components is about half an hour away, and was far out of my way as I was running about town.

So, I passed a Sportsmens' Warehouse.

And I went in.

And I bought 1,000 Federal large pistol primers.

And, for the rest of today, I haven't been able to shake the guilt. I should have gone to the individually-owned shop that always has what I need.

Time to take a shower.

I wouldn't feel bad about it. You needed primers. Gas is pricey right now. I know my luck would have been to drive all the way out to the local store, only to find they didn't have any, then I woulda burned the time and gas to go to the other store anyways.

Now, as long as you keep shopping at the local store, there's not a problem. I buy stuff at cabela's or online all the time. But I still buy lots of stuff form the small stores too. Just blew $525 bucks on lots of ammo at one in fact. could have saved about 50 bucks by going online, but figured the local guy's turn was up! :D

Well said. I always check with the local shop first. Living in the San Francisco Bay area, he needs all the support he can get.

"...bought 1,000 Federal large pistol primers..." Same primers as your regular load? If not, you must work up the load again. However, if it's just a customer loyalty case. Relax. Your local guy isn't going out of business because you didn't buy from him. His wife and kids will eat. However, I must commend you for at least thinking about it.

your pentance for doing this is you must clean all the greasy fingerprints off the glassgun cases next time you are there ( and bring your own supplies) . :neener: sometimes it is a matter of loyalty , my guy still wonders about me ,since I haven't been to the shop in a while (called to tell me of an obscure gun the knows I like the odd ones ) but this time I boughtan enfield MK 4 jungle carbine that was sporterized , and today I pick it up . !!! :)

sfhogman, would that be American Outdoor ? I thought he was the only one left in the SF area.

Sunray, yeah, I always buy Federal. They seem a little softer than Winchester, and so go in the pocket easier. Or maybe I'm just superstitious. ;)

And, no, I didn't save any money by going to Sportsmens' Warehouse rather than Fletcher Arms. Fletcher's is pretty reasonable on their reloading supplies.

On top of that, John Fletcher, the manager (Terry) and John Jr. have all been really helpful in the concealed carry effort for Wisconsin. Can't say that anybody from Sportsmens' Warehouse has called to offer assistance.

That's why I feel dirty.
