The first post I made here when I became a member was about a woman I'd gone on a few dates with who found out I own guns and freaked out. There were many posts (it seemed to be a rather popular thread).

Well, good things come to those who wait.

I met maybe 9 months ago at work the woman I've been seeing for the past two weeks now. When I met her I liked her right from the start, but she was married and I put any feelings I had for her in a deep dark place in my heart, and went on.

But, we still would spend some amount of time with each other, and got to be friends.

Then, just 3 months ago, I found out she was getting seperated. Apparently, her husband was abusing her (which I had suspected, but not gotten confirmed), and threatened to kill her.

Now, the divorce has been filed for and I discovered this entire time, since she knew me, she has felt the same about me that I've felt about her. The past couple of weeks have been amazing.

Although things aren't in any way close to being resolved, we are finally together, and I'm happier now than I've been in a long time. Atleast any problems we have we can face together.

Cool thing is, she LOVES guns! It's not hard to tell I like guns. (a stack of American Handgunner, Guns&Ammo, and SGN along with a couple of Oleg Volk posters are evidence are at my desk). She asked to go shooting with me.
And, she is quite good! 20/15 vision, good trigger control, picks up targets very well.

But, she grew up in rural TX, and then later Kansas. Way she explained it, she grew up around guns.

She is also insanely beautiful ;) (which is always a plus)

And, she is a big geek (loves Dune, Firefly/Serenity, and Heinlein novels)

Anyway, thought I'd share (and brag)

Sounds similar to mine, even the anime geek part, except for the raised on a farm thing.

She came prepackaged with her own ruger 22/45, and has since got her CCW and a kahr p9 covert to carry, and loved shooting clays with me so much that she went out and bought a beretta teknys gold sporting.

Only trouble is, now her clays gun is better than mine. :D

Cool! Hopefully her ex just goes away and doesn't try to make trouble. I've been down that road before.:uhoh:

She got a Sister?;)

edit:dam! Kodiaz beat me to it!

The sister is taken. (and they aren't much alike)

As far as the ex, well, he doesn't know me yet, and hopefully never will. She didn't take too kindly to gettin' beat, and hasn't been 'round him since. I don't wanna meet him, b/c I don't want to have to deal with holding back urge to kill :fire: rising. No, seriously, I have a very low opinion of wife beaters putting them somewhere around pond scum and cat feces. She is a wonderful woman and how someone could abuse her is beyond me.

Atleast they had no children, so there isn't a messy custody battle to deal with. (Or me being a step-dad). (although that is kind of jumpin' the gun). It appears that the break will be clean enough all things considered (it could be much messier).

Who needs a sister... clone technology is getting better... any one up for a trip to china (or where ever they are doing it now?)...

Anyway... congratuations on your new girlfriend. Hope things work out for you all.

Don't be so mean to the cats. :neener:

Taking there masculinity away from them is much better, open hand slap and a firm talking to.

Congratuations on the new girlfriend. Gunshopping, rangetime and a movie make for great dates.

While I agree that it's better no kids are involved, I think so from the angle that no kids were traumatized in this particular situation. The step-parent angle though... well, my sister is a step-mother to a 14 year old boy and they get along really well... the kid even talks about her at school as "his Mom". As with all other stories, there's a lot more to the situation, but I'm gonna cut a long story short here. I just wouldn't consider being a step parent a bad thing in and of itself. We all have to take each situation as it presents itself and make up our minds based on what we know.

That said, this to me is another situation that'll make you wonder why two people couldn't have met each other in the first place instead of having to wade through all that other to get there.:scrutiny: Let's hope it works.:D

Ain't gun girls wonderful?

I was a semi-anti (yep...I hang my head in shame) until I met my fiancee. She'd mentioned owning guns, and I thought, "huh, that's interesting." Then she took me out shooting and after the first shot, I was like "I MUST OWN THEM ALL."

Ever since that day, I've been a rabidly pro-RKBA type, and my fiancee just looks smug and self-satisfied. :)

Be careful tho - a while back I got hooked up with a girl who essentially wanted a bodyguard from her ex... and she was rather freaked when I told her that what she needed was a restraining order, a move without a forwarding, and her own dang gun.

Mustang, I understand your ideas on the kid thing, but I had a relationship with a woman who already had a kid. We broke up around things which had to do with incompatibility, not her son (who was a great kid). I generally agree with you that kids being in the middle of this would be the biggest problem. (Thank G-d there aren't)

As for Bogie, I'm not worried. She's got her own pistol (although she likes rifles better), and knows how to use it. I've already established what I'm willing and not willing to do (if I'm threatened life and limb by her ex, in a grave exteme, meaning armed confrontation, I'll take him out, no less), and she doesn't expect any more of me than what I've said I'd do.

Also, this didn't come with strings of that nature attached. Supposedly his friends are attempting to calm him somewhat. Also, we aren't flaunting this whole thing.

I live in KC, and she has been staying with me, or at a friends close. He lives in an undisclosed location to the West by a good ammount.

I've been quite carefull, based upon the idea that a healthy dose of paranoia keeps one alive. :uhoh: :uhoh: :uhoh:

It's something she laughs about, but agrees with in principal.

Pro RKBA Ladies

There are a lot of'em around. I had a method to weed'em out early on.

"I am pro-gun. I own guns and I carry guns and I shoot guns. If that's a problem, speak now or forever hold your peace, because it is not negotiable."

If she's for real and the magic is there...hang on tight!

Not meaning to rain on your parade, but I think you're jumping the gun here. If the marriage/divorce thing is still in the process of being finalized, you're still messing around with another person's spouse until it is a done deal. Even if the other person is the lowest scum of the earth, it is the institution of marriage that is important and needs to be respected. Once its over and done with, its all fair game at that point.
Also, we aren't flaunting this whole thing.
Ummm... you ARE talking about this on a public forum. Someone who is addled with strong emotions this sort of thing generates could easily see THAT as flaunting the whole thing.

Very wise move. Wiser still would be to stop talking about it until the divorce is done.

On our second date we went to a gun store to pick up a gun I had ordered. She's been my wife for 12 years now.

My wife supports and encourages my gunaholic habit. and something very neat happened - my eldest son is dating a pretty young lady who went to the gunshow with us yesterday. she had a good time and wants to go to the next one . Sometimes Life is excellent.

Kismet, fate, coincidence, synchronicity, or whatever you call it is at play here! I hope all things work out for you and ytour new love!:)
