Still rubs this old Kansas boy wrong, no matter how you spell it!!

I never ever heard a shotgun called a shottie, or a shotty, until the invention of video games.

Now some think it correct, or cute.

EXCUUSE ME, but I still don't.

rc
Biggy smalls call it a shotty in his album "ready to die"

"makes me wanna grab the nine and the shotty,
But I gotta go identify the body"

edit. whoops. forgot to make my point. That was back in 94... The youth of this country calls shotguns "shotties" It's because that's what the grew up with it being called in the media.

Lots of words have been cut down this way
Rottweiler- rottie
Four wheels in the back? Dualie ¿sp?
Goal tender- goalie

And so on and so fourth... I dare say that disliking the word "shottie" may come from disliking the people who say it more than the word itself.

I'm betting that a few old-timers around these parts find the term "wheelie" gun offensive too....

Yep, but not as bad as shotty...................

Of course words such as "tactical", "like", "got" and a few others should be banned from English due to their misuse........:D

Cutesy slang is one thing, but we have as many antis reading these boards as we do gun owners. The LAST thing we need to do is appear to be a bunch of illiterate buffoons; it does NOT help us.

I said what I expect from such threads, not what was delivered. I then continued with a real, genuine question, so I obviously didn't just "discount" you, or I wouldn't have bothered to reply at all.

If you decide to go for a replacement barrel, you may be able to upgrade your sights at the same time. If you end up doing long shots with shot, or ever want to use slugs, you'll appreciate the additional precision. I bit the bullet and got a ghost ring version when I picked up my Mossberg years ago. The only change I've made to it has been swapping out the over-long standard synthetic stock with a shorter "Cadet".

Edited to add: I looked at the replacement barrels on Mossberg's site, and no joy. Looks like the barrels shorter than 25" are only 24" rifled or full choke, and an 18.5" bead. :(

I couldn't find a ghost ring version, at least not at the price I paid. I had considered them though and handled a few ghost ring equipped pumps and can understand their usefulness. I didn't plan on using this gun with slugs, at least not at long range.

I just checked and the receiver is drilled and tapped so a scope or red dot is an option for slugs/long range. I checked the barrel options too. :(
