Hi All
Over the last year or so I have noticed that my likes and preferances (as far as guns go) has been changing. Where I use to be a die hard Glock only for SD sort of guy I am now looking at other guns, and most of them seem to be revolvers. Only thing is most of the revolvers that I take a shine to seem to be as much or more then a decent auto pistol. Its going on to some extent with my rifles also. I keep looking at a list of my collection and thinking I don't really need that any more. It might be that I am getting older (I turned 50 last year) or just that I am (god forbid) bored with some of the ones I have and want to go in a differant direction with my collection.

Anyone else ever have this happen to you?

Nah. I started out on autos. I've picked up a few revolvers over the years and do enjoy shooting them, but I definitely have a *preference* for shooting the autos, and own probably 3x as many of those compared to revolvers.

The revolvers need not be that expensive though. Last one I bought was an H&R 732 in .32 S&W Long with the 4" barrel (I can't stand snubbies :)). Price was $149 at a local pawn shop. It's not a Smith, but it's a solid little gun. :)

I've recently made the switch in ccw from glocks to revolvers exclusively.

I've really started to appreciate the ease that a revolver loads unloads, carries, safety checks and doesn't beat up my SD loads in the process.

I also appreciate the versatility I enjoy carrying a 5" j frame in 357

I can deer hunt with it.

I can plink with 38's

SD ammo ranges in recoil from none to wild

I can make a 100 yd shot on a torso sized target if need be and still pack as much punch as a 9mm at the muzzle.

And only a small part of the gun is an inch wide vs the entire pistol w an automatic.

I put my glock on the other day after not carrying it for weeks and thought "UGH! No way" and swapped for a revolver before I left the bedroom.

I own more automatics. I carry a 442, I tend to hit smaller things that are further away with revolvers. I live in the city, I prefer the milder kick, higher capacity and faster trigger that I find myself able to shoot with autos. When I am out in the country, I prefer the accuracy and umph of a revolver. I only sell guns I cant fix or learn to shoot to my standards. I think you should keep them all. It would suck to sell one and have to buy it again.

First gun I ever bought was for CCW, a revolver. All the guns I have bought for SD carry are revolvers. I carry a semi-auto only rarely.

Interests and opinions change. Sometimes, either by accident or on purpose, things I theorized or were told were gospel I find are wrong. My suggestion is to let your interests wander and learn as you go, be prepared to accept lessons, have fun with this hobby. Changing tastes are an opportunity to learn new things.

Variety is the spice of life. Lately I have been switching out between a NA Arms 22 mag mini with Speer Gold Dots and a little Ruger 380 for concealed carry. (I am primarily concerned about coyotes...)

Carry both, and a good gun is a good gun, whatever the design.

BUT, from a "me" standpoint, if I really expect to be somewhere dangerous, I'd pack a revolver for simplicity of operation, safety of the long trigger pull, reliability of just another trigger pull to clear a malfunction. This is the reason my wife carries a snubby.

Even when i do carry an auto, it tends to be a hammer model with a DA trigger, carried hammer down and safety off.

I have tried to like revolvers, but have found no reason to like them. They have low round count, seem to always have bad grips, not balanced (nose heavy) and just not fun to shoot. I do not like the idea that the bullet is not fully inside of the barrel when shot. The case rim to control bullet seating does not appeal to me.

Love revolvers & have owned many, even just bought a Blackhawk in .45 Colt.

That said, my EDC is a Glock 19. Just the way things go.

The first handgun I ever bought was an auto, but the second one I bought was a revolver. I rather like both types of handguns, each for their own purposes. I wouldn't really want to give up either one.

I'm in my early 40s and I've noticed my tastes have changed as well. I used to be a big semi-auto rifle fan. I've fallen in love with lever actions and would rather take them to the range than anything else I own. I have no intention to sell the others. I think its normal to have different interests over time. Keeps things interesting.

you carry what fits your lifestyle and perceived needs. which changes over time

perhaps your body is also changing (early onset of arthritis...) and the revolver feels
more comfortable in your hand

I have two handgun, a cz sp01 phantom 9mm and a S&W model 64 four inch barrel in 38spl. I like then both. The SW is very nice to shoot with and less recoil than the cz.

I only have one preference and that is you can point, aim, and send a round down range with it. I like everything from my .22 short derringer to the custom 500 NE I got from my grandfather. Any platform/caliber is fine with me.:D I find I do the most shooting with firearms that are .22 rimfire as of late due to cost per round but will shoot anything I want and thoroughly enjoy it.

Same here.

I will take your old glock :D

Absolutely. My taste in firearms has definitely evolved over the years - first it was lever guns, then revolvers, then milsurps........well, you get the picture.

Nowadays, I find myself gravitating towards rimfires. With cheap ammo, low recoil and less noise, what's not to like?

As far as the revolver vs auto thing goes, I have twice as many revolvers as I do semi-automatics. However, my go to gun for concealed carry is a 9x18 Russian Mak.

ahhhh, lever gun, I'll get one some day !!! it will go well with my 10-22 and my 22-250 !!

I think also that a nice handgun in 22 would be a nice addition.. after that, I'll be done. at least for a little while....lol

God yes! I turned 60 and visited the local gun shop to find what he'll take from my collect so that I can find some other toys of interest. Picked up a Ruger Single Six for kicks because I got bored with what I had and now sort of been toying getting a Henry Rifle 45 long and a 22 to do some serious rifle plinkin! Getting old brings on a whole new perspective and is challenging. I really hope there's a range in heaven when the time comes!

I broke my wrist 2 years ago and I can't wrap it around a rifle or shotgun stock without pain. So I've been shooting my handguns a lot more. My favorite for years was a 19-3 K-frame (bought new), then I got a 1911 and started shooting IDPA, USPSA, and Steel Challenge. Now I shoot the 1911 more than anything else. The long guns seem to be relegated to the gun cabinet lately.

I never really had much interest in handguns until I became interested in CCW, I was always a bolt gun guy. I also had no interest in having an AR, now I think I'll build my second.
