I have found my perfect range bag.

Up until now, I've been using an Allen range bag that I got from Wally World. It's basically just a big green bag with two internal pockets on the sides, and one external pocket on one end. The interior is essentially one big space.

I was poking around in Home Depot a few weeks ago, and happened to come across the tool belts, bags, and other "totes." I saw a couple of electrician's tool carriers that caught my eye, but I didn't take one home with me.

I started thinking about having my shooting essentials in one bag, and ammo in another bag.

I am very happy with it, and I haven't even taken it to the range yet. I love not having all of my contents mix up like cookie dough, and not having to reorganize my range bag every time I get home from a trip (yes, I'm anal). It's also got a nice, comfy shoulder strap, and it also has a parts organizer in a lower compartment. Since I shoot almost exclusively in the boonies, I think this is just perfect for me.

How can you beat something like this for range use?

Put it all on wheels and I'm THERE!! One of my problems is that I have peripheral neuropathy AND a bad back. My range bag is often too heavy for me to comfortably carry, especially by the time I get a couple of guns in there, ammo, and all of the other essentials.

I like bags that close and can be "locked" if need be.

Open bags = lost stuff

It was $29 bucks. I am more than pleased with it. There were other brands of Electrician's tool bags, but I liked this bag the best, and it was the cheapest, too.

I'll have to figure out how to do that... The weight is one of the reasons that I decided to have my shooting stuff and my ammo in two different bags... Just got sick of hoisting 50 pounds.

I'll be toying with that idea.

What makes it perfect is that it only cost me $0.39. A couple of months back I bought a Smith and Wesson .500 and then a couple weeks after that a friend sent a web link to a form to receive a free range bag with purchase of any new Smith and Wesson firearm. I know that thier are alot of better bags out there but not many for $0.39 (cost of mailing form).

Mine is similar to this one except that it's blue & beige. Double zippers on each of the two main compartments that allow me to lock it with mini-padlocks. I have a couple of small camera bags stuck inside it to keep things organized better. Got it at Lowe's, but it can be found cheaper elsewhere.

I throw all my "generic" stuff that I take to the range every time into a cheap plastic toolbox from Ace Hardware. Like most of it's type, it has a plastic tray that lifts out of the top that holds some of the small stuff. The box I use just fits inside of a typical clay pidgeon box with a pile of targets in the bottom, which I set out to shoot at.
Then, I put whatever pistols I want to take into one of those foam padded gun cases about the size of a brief case, and I'm off.

Try this:

Done it. Go to Home Depot/Sears/Lowes/whatever and get a STANLEY rolling toolbox. Costs about 13/ to 1/2 of what a fancy "tournament" bag costs, rolls, locks and gives you TWO tool trays and a HARD SURFACE to sit, load or work on. I've had mine for 2 years now and would NOT go back to a bag.
