I just ordered a CZ 550 American .30-06

I have never used one and only handled one on a couple of occasions.

I did like the look and feel and did some research before making the order. My impression is that these are quality rifles and the fit and finish is first rate.

Does anyone have a different opinion or can I feel good about my choice?

Any thoughts on scopes would also be appreciated. My scope budget could stretch to $600 but I'd really prefer to keep it under $400 if possible.

CZ 550 is an excellent rifle, be happy. Scopes, all I know would fit in a thumble, sorry.

Awesome rifle!!!! Beautiful and accurate! Keeping with the European theme, I'd put a Zeiss conquest scope on her, but a Leupold would do in a pinch. Congrats on a classy rifle. I hope it comes with some beautful wood like some of my CZs have.

Well, Ruger has a Rifle called the Hawkeye African.

So if an American company can name a rifle after a continent, it seems fair that a Czechoslavakian company can name their rifle after a country/continent (USA is not the only america after all).

Anyway.

Check out Vortex scopes. I have a Viper 6.5-20x50 that I like a lot. It's right in the middle of your price range.

the rifle will be fine - solid choice.
for scopes, your price range is realistic for quality optics that will last. i'm going to put a 3-9 conquest up for sale later today - pm me if you're interested.

for a 30-06 i think a 3-9 or 4-12 variable is about right. check out leupold vx-2, redfield revolution, sightron s-2, and nikon buckmaster lines.

First of all I find it very rude not to include pictures!! Secondly, you bought one hell of a rifle. This rifle is more accurate than most shooters are, and they have very pretty wood. CONGRATULATIONS!
