okay, i think i want a midsize glock. i have a g17 and a g30, and i feel a 40 cal pistol is in order, and i would like a midsize anyway so i figure i'll give it a go.

some questions:

was the g23 introduced before 1994? im curious because i would want a couple 13 rounders that were NYS legal.

for those who own either of the glocks i listed in addition to a g23, is it comparable in width to either? im guessing its closer to the g17 but i really have no idea.

was this a popular police model? i would love to find a used gen 2 to save myself some cash, as i have no problems with a used gun but i dont know how mainstream this model is.

im going to load for it if i get it, any quarks to 40sw for reloaders? funny pressure curves or is it finicky with brass? i heard i'd have drama using glock fired brass but with the 2 models i haven't experienced that, will the 40 finally be the one that leads me down the path of bulged cases?

any other random thoughts/ opinions on this model? would you buy it over again, etc etc?

i know these threads are older and more tired than a narcaleptic tortoise, but i tend to ask a plethera of questions before i drop the cash on a new purchase.

as a final point of consideration, would anyone have any resounding reason to recommend a xd-40 over the g23? i wouldn't be able to get high caps for it so it would really have to be a cut above the rest point, but i want to throw it out there.

thanks guys

I carry a gen two G23 and I love it.I learned the Glock on a G22, which is the same size as the 17, and I had no problems with the smaller gun. Since my 22 was a 3rd gen, I didnt like the feel of the 2nd gen grip as much. I put a Hogue slip on grip on it and it works wonders. I dont reload yet and my G23 was built in '95 so I cant help with those questions. I think you will love the G23.
