I need help....

Ok all...I have a few questions about shotguns and such. I am going between the 500 and 870. WAIT! I know you are thinking..great another 870 vs 500 thread but hear is my dilemma.

I like the 870 feel and action better, but I like the two barrel offering from mossberg for the 500. the gun will be split between HD and maybe the occasional pheasant hunt. I am working on my permit for 2009 season.

For something fitting that bill would you get the 870 in the 28" and then buy the 18" barrel later? Or would you just get the 500 with the two barrels now?

I am leaning towards the 870...fyi

Get the one that YOU like - since you indicated you're leaning towards the 870, that's the one to get

The mossberg action will smooth out, but.... if you like the 870 get it. Just make sure that you shoot it enough to be confident with it and that it fits you well.

id get the mossberg it feels cheap but is a great gun. i wouldnt get an express, if it was a wingmaster then thats a sweet gun and buy it. the mossberg controls and loading gate are much better for hd btw.

I'd get the 870.

Unless you plan on doing SWAT style room clearing I don't think a long barrel puts you at much of a disadvantage indoors, and most people find they don't switch barrels back and forth too often even if it doesn't seem like a big deal.

I am thinking the 870 with the 26" barrel...If there is a HD issue I am not going to be clearing rooms and hallways...I am going to have my fiance under the bed and me in the door way pointed down range...lol

Remington also sells two barrel models.

These usually come with a longer barrel with Rem-Chokes, and an 18" barrel.

I've also seen them with plain short barrels.
You can often find 870 Combos at Walmart.
