Dangit. I don't make enough $$$ to keep taking an interest in whatever is under the glass at the gunstore. I held, for the first time, S&Ws M&P .40. I was quite impressed. It felt better in my hand than the XD. THEN the owner showed me the interesting gripo-chango thing that came in S, M and L for different hand sizes. It didn't matter to me, the one he had on the gun at the time was perfect for me. Hmmm..... I lost interest in my XD40 when I got my XD45. I may have to do some horse trading at some point here. Anyone know if/when S&W is planning on releasing this in .45ACP?:D

I am in the same boat; I really want one of these. Although I am not crazy about the magazine safety. The M&P is one of the nicest feeling pistols to hit the market in the past year or so. I think S&W it onto something with this gun.

Yes an M&P 45 is on the way with a thumb safety to boot... http://www.guntalk.com/site28.php
I was about to purchase an M&P. I may wait to see if the safety makes its way over to the 9mm.

I've been debating on an M&P in 9mm and came close to buying one at a local shop a few days ago. I've got alot of trigger time on a couple of .40 versions my friends own, and really like the weapon for the most part. I'm probably going to wait for the .45 version to hit the market before making a final decision between that or the 9mm version.

Well, that is fantastic news. I need to start saving some $$ and hope that the new congress coming next month doesn't ruin it for us all before I can afford one (oops - don't want to turn this into an L&P thread). Anybody seen a prototype? I'm curious about grip size - did they manage to "XD" it or did they "Glock" it. Heck, even if they "HK USP'd" it, I'd be happy, but Glock's 45 is just too durn big for a good hold in my hands.
