It's been a long, strange road with me and revolvers. Going from an "I sold my only revolver" thread (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=364138) last year...to shooting, falling in love with, and buying a Smith and Wesson 638 a few months later in 2008 and pocket carrying it for a long time while waiting to be able to fully trust my Kahr PM9.
I bought the Kahr PM9 in 2008 with my $600 tax rebate check, broke it in, and then promptly spent a year staying away from the range, all the while continuing to use my S&W 638 for pocket carry duty.
Anyhow, I was unemployed for the majority of this past summer and so was able to spend a lot more time at the range than normal. I've taken my Kahr PM9 from just over 200 rounds of fmj from the "break in" period up to about 700 rounds now, shooting only WWB 115 gr hollowpoints since the break-in. I'm happy to report that despite a few hiccups AFTER the break-in period, the gun has worked flawlessly for the past 300 rounds or so, and I'm pretty confident in carrying it full time as a "primary" ccw. That said, I recently had an epiphany of sorts and starting carrying BOTH the Kahr and the S&W at the same time. Why the hell not. I carry the Kahr in my right pocket (strong hand) and the S&W in my left pocket (weak hand). At the very least I'll have two excellent self defense guns at the ready should I need them, and if I need to shoot the snubbie with my left hand only limp-wristing is a non issue.
Went to the range today and the groups were better with the Kahr, to be expected FOR ME, but I'm improving with the S&W as well. No pics this time out.
Anyhow, a happy ending for now. We'll see if the PM9 stays reliable after riding in a pocket every day. I'm betting it will!
A long and somewhat rambling thread, but I thought some of you might appreciate it.
