It's been a long, strange road with me and revolvers. Going from an "I sold my only revolver" thread (http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=364138) last year...to shooting, falling in love with, and buying a Smith and Wesson 638 a few months later in 2008 and pocket carrying it for a long time while waiting to be able to fully trust my Kahr PM9.

I bought the Kahr PM9 in 2008 with my $600 tax rebate check, broke it in, and then promptly spent a year staying away from the range, all the while continuing to use my S&W 638 for pocket carry duty.

Anyhow, I was unemployed for the majority of this past summer and so was able to spend a lot more time at the range than normal. I've taken my Kahr PM9 from just over 200 rounds of fmj from the "break in" period up to about 700 rounds now, shooting only WWB 115 gr hollowpoints since the break-in. I'm happy to report that despite a few hiccups AFTER the break-in period, the gun has worked flawlessly for the past 300 rounds or so, and I'm pretty confident in carrying it full time as a "primary" ccw. That said, I recently had an epiphany of sorts and starting carrying BOTH the Kahr and the S&W at the same time. Why the hell not. I carry the Kahr in my right pocket (strong hand) and the S&W in my left pocket (weak hand). At the very least I'll have two excellent self defense guns at the ready should I need them, and if I need to shoot the snubbie with my left hand only limp-wristing is a non issue.

Went to the range today and the groups were better with the Kahr, to be expected FOR ME, but I'm improving with the S&W as well. No pics this time out.

Anyhow, a happy ending for now. We'll see if the PM9 stays reliable after riding in a pocket every day. I'm betting it will!

A long and somewhat rambling thread, but I thought some of you might appreciate it. :D

I have a 100 percent reliable 9, a Kel Tec P11, I've carried and shot many rounds through and a little stainless revolver, a Taurus ultralite. I love 'em both for carry and it just depends on my mood which I carry. Lately, though, I've been totin' the revolver a lot. I just don't think I need anymore for self defense and I just like revolvers. I'm that way. :D But, I don't deny that auto has advantages as a carry, in power and firepower as well as it's a little more compact. Both are pretty danged accurate.

I really don't carry 'em both, I pocket carry. If I have another carry than my NAA mini revolver, it'll usually be my .357 M66 Taurus 3" IWB. I'll keep the .38 snub in the strong side pocket as back up. I'll carry speed strips of .38+P which will feed both guns for reloading. They shoot pretty close to POA in my .357 if I need a reload for it. Makes for a decent system. I don't often do that, don't see the need, though.

Hope you're working again. :D

You are using a Pocket Holster...... Aren't you??

Glad everything is working out good for you. I personally would put one in an ankle holster so I could get to it while sitting/driving, something very hard to do with pocket carry, just something else to think about.

If you spend a lot of time in a car, that's a great idea. I have done that and for that reason before. But, most of my personal transportation is on a motorcycle. I'll carry in the ankle rig for road trips in the car, though. Makes a lot of sense.

IWB works okay in the car. On long drives, though, I'll take the thing out 'cause the bucket seats in the car are irritating with an IWB. I'll just set the thing in a cubby hole in the dash and re-holster when I get out.

Yes, I'm double pocket carrying, left and right pockets, Kahr PM9 in my right pocket (strong hand) and S&W 638 in left pocket (weak hand) both with uncle mike's neoprene pocket holsters.

But for me the true test of a carry gun is having it slink around in a pocket for a week or two, going to the range carrying it just like you would regularly, pulling it out, and making sure everything goes bang reliably. The revolver does that like a charm, and I have every reason to believe the PM9 will continue to serve me well, too.

I have a PM9 that I carry most every day on a high ride belt holster. When the weather is cooler and I wear more clothes (and am less sweaty in these hot Texas summers) I carry a Colt DS because I shoot it better.

There is no such thing as the perfect carry gun, only the best gun to fit those particular circumstances.
