I stopped at my local gun shop today to get some more .22 ammo and was shocked that they were almost completely out of handguns except for a few Taurus pistols and revolvers, some Charter Arms stuff, and several cheapie-chuggers types like Hi-Point, etc.

They did have one nice stainless Ruger Blackhawk and a couple of Expensive Springfield XD 9s and a Springfield .45.

Their selection of ammo was also very sparse. When I asked my buddy behind the counter what was up (as if I didn’t already know), he just smiled at me and another trainee said, "Everybody's getting ready for the war."

Two guys came in while I was there hanging out, and they wanted 7MM ammo. My friend said they didn't have any and weren't expecting any either. Then the trainee chirped up and said that a certain guy (he said his name.) was buying up almost everything they got in.

Just a couple of weeks ago when I was in last, the store was stocked up. It was almost empty just before Christmas, but I didn't expect it to be sold out again so soon. Lots of people have bought guns here within the last two weeks. So, maybe a war will start soon. Who knows?

Funny, the gun shops in my area are all plentiful. Ammo is available, handguns are as numerous as ever, and there are black rifles restocking the shelves as quickly as they are flying out the door.

Sales are definitely up, but the local shops are stocked to deal with it. In fact, the local shop would run out of room if they didn't have a stock room and actually tried to put all of their product on the shelves.

There is no shortage of guns out here. I'm sorry that you're having trouble finding them where you are.

No shortage here either. I just got my LWRC 6.8 about a week ago, but I haven't been able to get out to the range to go shoot it yet so I don't know about ammo. I doubt it is bad here though, things have started to calm down which is nice.

Scheels locally has bare display cases. XD-Ms and various Ruger .22s are about all they have Gander is more expensive than anyone else so they still have an OK selection

It costs a store money to have stock in hand. Bare shelves are as likely to reflect the cash balance of the store than the supply at the distributor. It could also be a reflection of the "credit is not flowing" business that fills the business section of the newspaper.

Plenty of supply at my local gun shops in TN, Walmart has limited ammo. All of it seems to be about 10-20% markup since I last bought before I deployed over a year ago. Could be due to natural increases or the election...

I've gone to 4 gun shops in the past week. One of them was nearly bare, the rest were well stocked with many, many customers.

If you want to see what people really think, watch how they vote with their wallets and their feet.

Stocks dropping = no confidence in the current administration.
Stocking up on emergency supplies = no confidence in the current administration.

Same here - stopped by one of my favorite shops yesterday and they didn't have room to display all the guns they had in the store, used as well as new.

Lots of stuff on the shelves here in Huntsville. Prices have climbed in the past few months, though. And that's to be expected with things as they are at present.

I saw a lot in the store yesterday. I did a double take when I saw a Sig P6 in the used cabinet with a price tag of $539.99.

Here it's decent - stock is lower than it has been but not bare as far as firearms. I was shocked to see a couple of ARs on the rack at one of the places I go - looked at the price tag on them and they were colts for over 2K - so that's why they were there!

Interestingly there seems to be a shortage of 9mm subcompacts - XD scs are nowhere to be found. Glock26s same - 1 shop had 1 M&P9sc and a PPS but he was confident he'd sell those within the day.

Guns are starting to appear again, even the occasional black rifle. But someone has cleaned out all the places of ammo. I can't find handgun ammo anywhere. 9mm, 357, 40, 45, anything. I found *one* box of 9mm Blazer Brass when I combed all the wal-marts within an hour.

Remember folks, it's Tax Time! Some of the shops allow their stock to drop so they don't have to pay the taxes on a large inventory count. We'll probably see more of a selection (in some areas) after the tax season is over.

Plenty of guns here in Hampton Roads, if you want AR's, Saigas, SKS, AK, lever action, Garands, M14 they have them, but you'll pay for them, they are just low on Glocks. Ammo is there, but pricey.

If a war does start, the first shot will be fired by the Democrats.

Dude, they've been shooting at us for years, we just seem unwilling to shoot back.

The used rack of 870 police magnums was empty when I went in today :(. Only glocks left are 22 and 23s. Completely out of 7.62x54 ammo, out of .223.

I did however pick up a cherry 870 wingmaster 12 gauge for $300 :)

I'm looking for another glock 21sf, wife likes mine so much she said not happy with the p-90 and. Got to go shopping.

Seemingly brand new 870 wingmaster for $300. Not a scratch or mark. I don't think it was fired.

I've only been to Gander Mountain since the "incident" and they still had a good selection (go figur with their pricing). However I did find it surprising when I discovered that they're EBRs were pretty decently priced (FNAR for 1500 or so, which isn't especially nuts to my knowledge).

I never thought I would say it but...Connecticut does have one thing going for it..Cabelas..Even though I would not buy a gun from the buzzards unless it was something I could absolutely not live without (Another no lock "N" frame for $300.00) or the likes..The pretty much AlWAYS have anything in the way of ammo you would want, on the shelf and more in the back if that aint enough! I am close enough to watch for their sales and email offers so I make out pretty good. The winchester white box that Wally mart sells so much of has been pretty much cleaned out at the two stores I buy dog food and the like from.
