G 27 is the way to go. If you want to shoot 9mm, just get a wolf barrel and a magazine. You want to shoot .357? Just get the wolf barrel. .40 is the best for my thinking.
I'll never understand people who carry the gun in it's .40 set up but shoot 9mm and think they are well trained. You can't learn to work with the .40 recoil that way.
I got myself a 26 that I love. It seems like you enjoy the 26. I think that should be the gun you get as you were happy with your friends. The 29 is a great gun but it is bigger then you think as has been said already. The 27 is a good gun but I much prefer 9mm over .40 S&W for some reason. Mainly recoil and the cost of practicing with it. So I voted 26.
