I'm thinking about adding a non-traditional Glock model for another CCW option. I had the G26 and it was always a great shooter and wasn't too bad to carry, but I ended up trading it for the hunt of something a little less common. I do miss the utility and dead-reliability of the Glock though and have been thinking about adding a more unique Glock back in to my CCW rotation.

I'm stuck on 3 options really, the G33, the G32, and the G29. The 33 and 32 are both in 357 Sig which I find as kind of a quirky, kinda cool caliber. I'm already set up to reload for it and have all the components necessary, so it would not be any extra cost. The 33 and 32 are both the same size as the G19 and G26 respectively, which I am I already familiar with. And from what I've read, there is no difference between their 357 Sig models and their 40 SW models. So I could convert either gun to 40SW with a simple barrel swap if the mood ever suited me. Plus the 40SW extended mags will also work with the 357 Sig, so that's also a bonus!

The other option is the G29 in 10mm, which I also already reload for and have all the components. So that model would also not be any additional cost for me. The biggest downsize for me to this gun is that it feels a good bit bigger and thicker in my somewhat small hands. Add to that the power factor of the 10mm and I'm a little concerned that it might be a little more than I want to shoot in a good of that size. And whatever I buy, I do plan on shooting the heck out of.

But anyway, those are my thoughts and I'd appreciate comments, thoughts, and/or suggestions. Thanks!

Hey, everybody and their brother makes a gun in .357 SIG or 10mm.

If you want to get off the beaten path you've got to get a Glock in .45 GAP, G37, G38, G39.:)

The 29 would be great but, as you said, they are bulky.
357 Sig is a cool round, fast and loud, and not expensive if you reload. I have a 357 barrel for my G22.
I suppose you can go Gay And Proud with the 37, 38 or 39 if you are so inclinedo_O

One in 45 gap was going to be my suggestion too.

The glock 29 looks like it would be miserable to shoot.

I have the G29 and while I guess I could CCW it, it is pretty bulky for that. It's great for a hiking gun and pretty small compared to my Ruger SBH Bisley with a 5.5" barrel. But for CCW rotation, I'd go G33. It can be switched to .40 S&W or 9mm with barrel and mag changes for the 9mm.

Really? As a dealer, I can only find 2 brands making guns chambered in 357 Sig and that’s Glock and Sig. But maybe you know of others that I’m not aware of.

And 45 GAP is out. I don’t own any reloading components, dies, etc for that caliber and I’m not interested in adding a new caliber right now.

I have a 29. It's snappy but no snappier than my 27 or 33.
If, God forbid, bad things came about and I had to sell guns, the 357 sigs would be the first to go. I have nothing against them, but with 9/40/45/ and 10 I see them as useless. I only got into it because of an unlimited supply of once fired 357 sig brass( almost all nickel plated) from NC state troopers and game wardens. The 229 is my choice for the round.

Even it it were only Glock and SIG, that would still be one more than the number of companies that offer pistols in .45 GAP.

There's got to be five or so other company's that offered .357 SIG pistols. I think Springfield, S&W, Styer, FN, and probably a few more have offered .357 SIG models.

And 45 GAP is out.
That's cool. I just recommended it since you wanted "uncommon". You don't get any more uncommon than .45 GAP. I don't think .357 SIG is that uncommon, and 10mm certainly isn't.

I said 10mm above but I will add that 45 gap is certainly uncommon. I have well over 10 glocks and never even thought about buying one. I've shot with hundreds of LE and military and quite a few non-LE and I have seen exactly one 45 GAP being used. The guy was LE from NY iirc.

One thing about a glock, and the greatest thing about a glock imo, is that it's not uncommon. If you got an 18c (u won't), a model 20 (10mm), a model 29 ("sub" compact 10mm) or a 17 or 17l, from 5 feet away, its just a glock. No one will notice or give a crap which one it is unless you flip the switch on the 18 (the one that you won't get) and then they might notice. I personally carry my 27 (40). I have many rare and uncommon handguns from many makers but I carry that plain ol' glock, much to many people that know it's chagrin

My brother carried a Sig 229 in .357 Sig as a Detective for a few years. He kept a bunch of leftover Speer GD ammo from qualifications over the years and has a .50 cal ammo can filled to the top with it. His department switched to Glock G19s in December, so he asked me if I wanted the ammo. Probably 2-3k rounds. I told him he could sell it for big bucks, but he didn't think that would be ethical. So, he bought back his old Sig for $200 from the distributor that sold them the Glocks and now has plenty of ammo to feed it for awhile.

Personally, I would find more perceived utility with the 29. I dont have a 10mm, and that would be a handy hiking pistol if I wanted a compact over a full size.

.357SIG is pretty cool though.
