I think I'm falling in love with single stacks!

I have developed a recent affinity for single stack pistols. I love slim guns, and being single stack sort of lends itself to slenderness. I would also assume that single stacks are inherently more reliable than double stacks, but I have no scientific data to back this up. Further, some of the greatest handgun design of all time are single stack: Makarov, 1911, P7M8 to name a few.

Anyone else like 'em thin?

Love 'em! Only have this one though:

P7M8, baby!

I've shot my dad's Russian Makarov quite extensively and have yet to have a problem. I love my 1911, MKII and my CZ-52, all single stacks. I would imagine that single stacks would tend to be more reliable but that is not exactly copatible with my experiences. All I can say is that with almost 1000 rounds through my Glock 19 I have had ZERO malfunctions which is more than I can say form my 1911 and MKII. I would guess that the few problems I have had are extractor and ammo related though. But, the Winchester white box runs perfect through the Glock while you might get 1 in 50 that the 1911 has trouble with. Maybe I should get better single stacks! Just my 2 cents.

Had a P7M13 issued to me for a while. Never let me down even once. Gave it back when I bought ny first 1911. Never even touched a Mak... Something to look forward to?

Don't forget Kahr's.

2/3 of my pistol collection is comprised of single stacks...

You make this sound like it's a bad thing.

The Sig P239 and Kahr K9/P9/T9 are also excellent singlestacks.

Nathaniel is right. The Star BM is a very nice, slim single stack, that's why I have one on lay-away. Another month or two of saving and I'll be bringing it home.

Love for the single stacks is a sure sign of higher intelligence.
Love for single stacks and all-steel, non-polymer guns, is a sign of genius.

Bersa Thunder .380

Don't forget the ultra reliable and feature-filled Bersa Thunder .380, which can be had with 7 or 10 shot mags.

Altough I am a big boy I have medium sized hands. Therefore I prefer single stacks. Now that I have caught the uncurable 1911 bug I find that there are alot of those in the gun safe.

Actually talking about the P225 I shot mine at the Carolina Cup a few years ago. Funny thing is I never felt under gunned shooting against guys with Glocks with the full 10 rounds.

Used a P225 at an IPSC competition, the first time I had ever done anything like this and finished middle high of the pack. I never felt undergunned and I was the only one using anything less then 10 rounds, much less double action.

I think I did very well considering it was my first time at ever doing anything like this and the fact that I "only had a single stack".
