I want it back

the ones I lost

My Valmet 78 that I lost to a pawn shop for $100 ($2000 to get back) My mistake as I lost track of it during a "difficult time"....

My grandfather's Colt Python Hunter-- lost to a different shop that took my money, then due to an error at FDLE (govt agency here in FL) I got rejected for the firearm transfer, that got fixed but the shop kept my money AND my guns!!

2 Class 3 AKs I sold when I went to college.. I had $700 in each including $200 transfer as I had them made by a Class 2 friend....now they are over $10,000. I sold them for $1500 for both.

FNC Paratrooper I sold for $1000...$3300 was the last I saw one

I didn't know that the imported "assault weapons" (semi rifles actually) would never be imported again and Valmets and others like Galils would skyrocket. Also, I got several Class 3 weapons in before the 86 deadline but didnt realize how high those prices would go.

A nice pair of Colt SP1s Id love to have again.......and that Steyr AUG, but there are similar ones available now.

Two I really regret selling were, Browning "ring hammer" High Power, one of the best if not the best auto loader ever made. Walther .380 PPK, a high quality auto in a decent caliber that was easy to drop in a pocket for a quick tun to shop and robbery.

I only think about it when they rattle Remingtons cage/////////////
I had a 25 year old Remington 700 in .243
Beautiful wood & finish--looked like new.
Super accurate & great deer rifle.
It started firing when I pushed off the safety--I sold it to a gunsmith.
Sometimes I wish I had kept it & had it repaired.
Oh well //////////////////////////

IMI (not IWI) Baby Eagle 9mm. All steel. Obviously not thinking clearly, sold it waaaay under value. Man I want that back.

Marvin you out there?

Truly wishing I could have back the 4" Colt Python my wife bought me when we first got married. We got into a financial pickle after about 5 years, I sold it to pay off a bill, Damn I wish I'd have sold something else instead of that Python!:banghead::cuss::banghead::fire:

My father bought my mother a nickel finish .357 Smith with a 4 inch barrel mother of pearl grips, action job and jeweled hammer. Our family ran into money problems and they decided to pawn it, only problem was my mom didn't know what pawn meant and sold it to a pawn shop for way less than it was worth. It was gone the next day, my father still regrets it.

Pre WWII Colt 1911 all matching serial #'s. Bought it form a friend 25 years ago who was in need of cash. Tried to give it back several times but would not take it. Had it at a dealer friends about a year ago. He made an offer that I could not refuse, but when I did refuse, He said how about I throw in this NIB XDM 9mm to go with it. He now owns the Colt. I want it back.

During a period of extreme financial crisis I was forced to sell a Walther MPL submachinegun and I have regretted it every day since. Now that I can afford another one, I can't ever find one for sale.... ugh.

Such a great little gun.

I really regret selling two guns, both full autos: an original M1928A1 Auto Ordnance Thompson and an original M1918 Winchester BAR. This was in about 1983, before the Hughes Amendment ban, and I had decided not to renew my Class III SOT. So I was clearing the inventory, and the price was right -- about $1,200 for each gun (believe it or not, this represented a profit). Besides, I was keeping an M3 Greasegun and an M60, both (to my mind) more "useable" weapons.

How could I have imagined the incredible runup in prices after the Hughes Amendment? (And these were the first two FA's I had ever owned.)

I had S&W 327 M&P R8 / TRR8 but I needed to get books for college and I needed the cash right away and had to sell it to a friend. After that I got to enjoy listening to him brag about the great deal he got and then later how he sold it for a big profit.

I just gave my Son-in-Law my first Ruger 10/22 today and I already want it back. I think I bought it in 1977. I told him if he could out shoot me with it he could have it. It was close. But he won...Russ

My MG-42... I miss her
My 1918 BAR.. I REALLY miss her
My MP-40 ..... I only had $400.00 in it, and 200 was in the stamp..
My AR-180.... dang that was a fun gun.
All NFA, bought them all mid 70's sold them early 90's at a big profit, tuns out I sold them too soon.. the values now are through the roof...

My Walther PP in 380.. German made, early 70's.. sweet little pistol, can't find another one..

Browning Hi-Power, SS Waffin Proofs, Artillery Model.. Obtained it though a trade for dirt cheap, sold it few weeks later for $500.00 Today,, I have no idea what it would be worth, but I'm sure it would be a sight more than the 500 I cut it loose for..

Now the Deal I REALLY Hate now, is not one I had, but one I passed on... in mid 70's I was offered a Peterson Devise for $325.00... and I passed... What a Dumb A.. I had no idea how rare they were...

There are days when I sort of regret selling my S&W M37 Flat-Latch. But then I remember how it felt to shoot the thing and I quickly come to my senses.

This got me thinking. I sold a preban Colt AR15 HBAR back in 1991. I've regretted and replaced it with a post ban model like it but it isn't the same gun. I've bought a lot of others since. Now I worry what will happen to my collection when I'm too old or gone. At this point in life I'm into fishing from a boat and bow hunting. I've considered selling some to fund hunting or fishing trips. Lately,I've been taking a lot of pictures of the fish I caught and the animals I shoot and I really like the memories. Kind of like you guys remembering/regretting the guns you sold.

It would be easier to list those guns sold that I haven't regretted than those I have. Like old girlfriends...more than my share of great ones, a fair number of really pretty decent ones that I defnitely consider once again, and just a couple of loser-no-regrets.

My Dad sold his Savage 99 that would have been mine while I was away in the military in the 80's. Still bums me out...

I'll pitch in again ... Lately I'm missing a first-year-production S&W 317 Kit Gun. Three-inch barrel, no lock or fiber optic sights; sold it with a nice Alessi Talon IWB holster. Right now I'm really missing that lightweight, accurate .22.

I sold my Ducati 750 when my first Son was born. I have had a number of bikes since, and none have even come close to the Ducati.

Should have kept the common Russian MN 91/30.

Possibly the Mini 30 (wood/stainless), but the post sights on the 30 and my Mini 14 are too thick.
They will keep producing these for a while, and with thinner sights plus thicker barrels.

The Minis were sold to buy the first Enfield #5 "Jungle":) in '09, and recently the Spanish FR8 Mauser carbine:) (7.62 NATO/.308).

Because they will never build These types again -other than the very pricey "Jungle" 7.62x39 version built by AIA (Australian)- scarcely seen in the US. AIA also builds a version of the Enfield #4.

Three, all handguns.
A Colt Series 70 Commander, brushed nickel. I lost the slide (don't ask) and had a gunsmith friend fit an Officer's slide on it, made it two tone.

One of the first run S&W 'Classic Hunter' 29s. S&W came up with the name sometime after I bought it. It was very accurate. Never used the adjustable front sight though.

Another Smith. A model 58 .41 mag. Also very accurate. My carry gun for years.:(
