I would like some of your pet loads for the 40 S&W.

40 S&W personal load data. Check your manuals and work up!
I've recently started loading 40 S&W and have only shot 165 fmj-fn, 165 Golden Sabers and some 155 Hornady XTP's.
With 165 FMJ-FN----CCI 500 primers in Win cases---oal 1.125"
Power Pistol--6.7 grains-1010 fps average------7.0-1030----7.2-1065 fps
Win Super Field----6.0 gr.-970-------6.3-1000-----6.6-1060
Unique-------6.0 grains-1008------6.3-1030------6.6-1070 fps
_________________________
165 Remington Golden Saber-----7.0 grains of Power Pistol --1030 fps
_________________________
155 Hornady XTP-HP
8.0 Power Pistol---1142 fps
7.6 Accurate Arms AA#5---1025 fps
Just some of the loads I've tested in my G23 and they all shot well. If I were going to pick a powder it would be either Win Super Field or Power Pistol. Use at your own risk and work up.

sure wish there was some pet loads in here for green dot (since i just bought a pound) LOL

THE FOLLOWING DATA IS CONSIDERED AT OR NEAR SAAMI MAXIMUM

My absolute favorite combination is a 155 gr. Gold Dot with 9.0 grs. of Longshot and a CCI-550 primer. I have also used the 500 primers, but I went back to 550's based solely on powder burn efficiency. I've actually found that this powder can be worked up to well above max. with no problems when fired from a fully supported chamber and if incrementally worked up. To add to this is HS6, also being run in the upper charge range, and as well, this powder cooperates very well when taken to, or even above max. published data.

As for published data for Gold Dots, it isn't all that easy to locate for Longshot. I got my data for the Gold Dots from Speer, after some persistence.

2004 Alliant load data has 40S&W loads for Green Dot.

For me, when I tested Green Dot during the last shortage, I found my 9/40/45 Green Dot loads comparable to mid-range W231/HP-38 loads but required .2 - .3 gr more powder.

But as always, conduct your own powder work up. ;)

I shoot 165s and 180s.

165 FMJ FP, 6.1 gr. Universal, 1.130 OAL
180 Hornady XTP, 5.4 Universal, 1.125 OAL

The 180 load is a max in my Lee manual, but it is not in others. Chronograph says it's very close to 1000 FPS.

The 165 is a few tenths below max. Chronograph says it's in the 1000-1050 FPS range. All velocities taken at about 10' from a 4" barrel.

For light loads, a 180gr with 3.8-4.4gr Titegroup does very well and is very accurate. 3.8gr is very soft, and 200gr with 3.5gr of Titegroup is also a sweet shooter with very low recoil. Okay one more, 4.5gr Titegroup with a 135gr is the same, super accurate and softer than a 9mm. WST works nice as well.

For more normal loads, 7.2gr Power Pistol will average 1065 fps from a 4" Glock 23 (180gr Gold Dot).

Do not use the following loads in a stock Glock barrel, work your way up. I use an aftermarket barrel and the following loads work well in my setup

For "warm" loads, 800x and Longshot work very well and are easily obtainable. It's not problem to get 1300 fps with a 180gr JHP using Longshot in a longer 6" barrel, and if you go 10% over (in a well supported 6" aftermarket barrel), 8.8gr will average 1400 fps...yes with a 180gr bullet...that's equal to a warm 10mm. In the same setup though, I don't go past 10% over with Longshot because I start to see signs of pressure.

My warm .40's, all from 6" barrel and all loads are no more than 10% over book and all loaded to 1.125" with 1x Federal brass and CCI SP primers:
135gr JHP @ 1850 fps (13.0gr...12.0gr is book max)
155gr JHP @ 1555 fps (11.0gr...10.0gr is book max)
165gr JHP @ 1485 fps (my own data, Hodgdon uses a long Sierra JHP, I use a shorter Speer Gold Dot. 9.0gr gave 1410 fps, 9.5gr gave 1485 fps)
180gr JHP @ 1400 fps (8.8gr load, but backed down to 8.5gr which gives almost 1350 fps and is more consistent)

800x does better with 200gr bullets, and from 6" KKM will shoot a 200gr XTP @ 1,250 fps.

no one uses Unique or 180 hardballs?
Yep I do. Load 165 grain jacketed with Unique and 180 grain SWC with Unique. My mold is the Lee 401 175 SWC 6 hole but it throws 180 grain bullets. I use Unique in all my pistol loads.

Berrys

155 Berrys RNHB
Fed/ATK brass
Win Small Pistol Primer
3.8 grains Clays/Clay Dot
Above load is good for IDPA PF,clean, accurate and economical.
