That is a IBM in WWII issue format: high wood M1 stock, "L" sight, thin barrel band w/o bayo lug, button safety, two-nib mag catch.

My IBM re-import from South Korea was "upgraded" with M2 stock, adjustable sight, barrelband w. bayo lug, flip wing safety, three-nib mag catch.

The WWII era guns are a better value on the collectible market. Color me envious.

Like it!! Just picked up a Winchester myself not too long ago. First carbine for me. A riot of a fun gun!

man, i wish we still made rifles :) i'd love to see what our Research guys could come up with if we turned them loose on something cooler than winning Jeopardy!

I believe those IBM M1 Carbines were manufactured in Owego, NY. That plant still exists, but as a Lockheed Martin office facility. I remember seeing bolt holes in the floor for the tooling. Now I'm wondering if some remote warehouse in rural NY has the tooling, forgotten by all.

Taliv, I bet you Dave M. could get a plasma rifle out of Research pretty quickly....

John, you're probably right!

would be interesting to find out.
