This from a post I made on ARF.com. No answer there, so I thought I'd try here.

I picked up an HB A2 upper with 1/9 twist barrel with no flash hider and "COLT 223" rollmarked in large letters across the left side of the upper opposite the ejection port. It has the standard military push through .250" pivot pin instead of the larger two headed screw. The barrel has two raised "rings" machined around it near the mid point under the handguard that are slightly larger than the barrel OD. Maybe .0625" wide, .0625" high, and .125" apart. Size and spacing are a guestimate from memory as I don't have it in front of me right now. My 6601 HB does not have these "rings" and I'm curious if anyone else has seen this before. Also any info on the manufacturer of this upper. Is it a true Colt or ...? What about the chamber? Is this a .223 commercial (SAAMI spec) as would seem to be indicated or 5.56 military? Is this from some specific Colt model? Any info appreciated.

Thanks, BBBBill

Come on, guys! Someone must have seen one of these.
