It was quite by chance that I ended up owning this classic S&W condition is 100% original and it is mechanically perfect, I do hope to shoot it one day but for right now she is well cared for and cozy
I could use some help here...
a) .38spl
b) 1.875"
c) round butt
d) 5 shot
e) fixed
f) SN on the bottom of the grip: 60J92
g) 36
Additional information:
Old. Blue cardboard box packed in with brown wax paper. Looks blued, heavy finish wear. Original grips are wood, with a silver and gold (colored) S&W medallion
g_one:
Your Model 36 Chiefs Special was manufactured in 1971. Silver colored hollow ground medallions were used until 1973, so probably original. An original box from that time period will have "A Bangor Punta company" printed on it.

Can anyone tell me the year of manufacture?
The 1899 that I have has walnut grips. This one has the plastic grips.
I probably paid the high end price on these, but I now have them and am thrilled with them.
Thanks again for any help.

JoelSteinbach:
Your Model 15-3 Combat Masterpiece was manufactured in 1971.
MacBean:
Your Model 34-1 .22/.32 Kit Gun falls in the serial range for 1969 to 1971, (M1 to M30000) with 1971 being most likely. The -1 in the model number refers to a change from the old .32 caliber size I frame (hence .22/.32, a .22 on a .32 frame) to the slightly larger .38 sized J frame.
Your .22 Outdoorsman / K22 First Model is a rare beast and highly collectable. It falls into the period between January 1931, when the model was introduced at serial number 632124, and 1933 (serial number 644xxx).
Your 32-20 Hand Ejector, if it has a locking lug under the barrel, is a Model of 1903 and was manufactured in 1903 or 1904. If it lacks the locking lug then it is a Model of 1896 and falls into the date range 1896 to 1901.
Your .38 Military & Police 1st Model / Model of 1899 Army & Navy Revolver was manufactured in 1901 or 1902.
For exact shipping dates you will need to invest $50 per gun to obtain a factory letter from S&W that will tell you where it was shipped to, on what date and in what configuration.
Thanks for the info. It is greatly appreciated. The outdoorsman has a lot of blue wear but functions flawlessly. It is extremely accurate. Thanks again.
MacBean:
if the grips on the .32-20 have a S&W monogramme then they are almost certainly original to the gun and made of vulcanized rubber, not plastic. They may be brittle with age, so take care, especially if removing them.
Don't re-blue any of these old guns, it will destroy the value to collectors.
They do have the S&W monogram on them. No plan to re-blue them. I know where there is a S&W model 1903 38 that is really cool but has been re-blued somewhere in it's lifetime. It was offered to me for $300 and I almost bought it, but did not. Thanks again for your help. This forum has been very helpful.
Snake Plisskin;
Your Model 19-4 Combat magnum was manufactured in 1978 or 1979. Serial range for those years was 25K0001 to 56K9999, so 1979 seems likely.
