…I would try and find me a Texas girl.

Bear in mind that this occurs in San Francisco, and I have a CCW…

So last week there is a new girl hired for my department. In the middle of the week, her boyfriend is working late and my wife is out to dinner with her New York people, so we decide to go have dinner and a drink.

While stepping off a curb in Union Square she trips and I reach out to help her and she puts a hand right on my hip. Right on my Glock 30 in fact.

“Is that a gun?” she says…”Uhm… yeah, but don’t freak out, I have a CCW and it’s all legal…”

Here’s the cool part.

“It’s ok” she says “I’m from Texas”

“So what is it? A 1911?”

“Uh..no, a Glock 30 .45”

“Cool…let’s go eat.”

I love California, but seriously, Texas girls rock.

dasmi- I'm giving my money to Washinton Mutual for my mortgage and I'm sleeping with my wife. As for the CCW, that's a long complicated story that I'd rather not go into.

Yeah, it kinda figures that anyone who, despite the inexcusable difficulty given to "average citizens" to get a CCW in California, HAS such a permit, he would rather not tell us just why he rates better than the rest of us surely would.

In other words, some political favor or other, which would make the rest of us wanna puke, is probably responsible for it.

Maybe 1/4bore is a movie star, or a bank exec, or a cop...
You know... better than the average joe. More worthy of having the right of self defense... :barf:

Whoa, easy there peaceful. Other than permits issued as political favors, the people who get them generally do so because they've had a serious threat to their life.

Maybe QuarterBore was being stalked, or testified against a prominent gang member, or any of a hundred other things that have nothing to do with corruption. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Wow. Maybe he's in the witness protection program hiding from the Finnish gangsters who control the truffle trade or he's been beaten in a dark alley by baseball themed gangs, but was able to id his assailant but has also had his car beaned and his house torched in retaliation. In any event, it's own business. He's under no obligation to divulge any information.

Or maybe his job is such he is at a much higher risk then normal? Or he has had death threats from someone? Or any of a variety of other reasons?

Would you rather have it the other way around? Are you saying if you can't have one you don't think he should be allowed to have one either? I understand the frustration of all the BS restrictions but isn't it good that at least SOME people have CCW? If for no other reason than that they can serve as an example to a population who don't think it's possible for private citizens to carry peacefully?

CCW pemits

Don't get confused with the very different parts of our state. In the Central Valley, as well as in N. CA, most of the local PD chiefs' are too PC to issue them, or they make it financially difficult. BUT! There are many County Sheriffs that will give you one in a heart beat. I have had mine since 1970. Never had any trouble getting it renewed. Once I was 2 months late doing so. I guess if you look like a puke, and act like one also, you might have trouble. So don't get confused comparing the Valley folks, and the N. Cal people with the rest of this crazy state. Most of us wish the BIG ONE would hit and wash the rest of those idots away. :)

Peacefuljeffrey:

1. Your comments are WAY out of line, and if you wish to continue on THR, you'd better reconsider and edit them - pronto. Your call.

2. California CCW permits are not necessarily issued in the place where you are at the moment. You can have one issued in another county, then keep it when you move to a restrictive area like SF, LA, etc. There is no reason whatsoever to presuppose something "tainted" in having a CCW in one of the latter areas.

Yes Preacherman is correct, California is almost shall issue in some areas and almost impossible in others. So like mentioned if you have a permit issued like in San Bernardino county, you may carry in the heart of LA or SF and the cops there can do nothing about it. Someone I knew tried for a permit in a LA county suburb and was told "we don't arm the public".

California also I believe has some weird clause that if your county has under like 100000 people in it the CCW is like automatically granted or something like that. California does have some small out of the way counties so this is an option for some people.

Also first time CCW offense unless it has certain enhancements like carrying a unregistered handgun is a misdemeanor while carrying cetain types of knives is a felony! Strange is'nt it?

I dated a beautiful blonde from Texas once. She broke my heart. And boy did she have pair of big ..... umh...eyes

They sure make them big in Texas.

Yee Haw!!!

Jeff,

A search of QBG's posts might enlighten you to some extent.
You are so off base as to be pathetic.

QBG,

If your current Mrs QBG says adios, TX will be glad to have you, there is bound to be an extra girl around here somewhere.

I dated a girl here (San Antonio) who ccw'ed a Glock with that slide clip. Dated another one who told me as I dropped her off that she had a pistol for self defense (since she blew me off after that one date, I suspect it was a "stay away" warning rather than an invitation %} My fiancee, who has been in Texas for 7 years (from New Mexico originally), was anti-gun when we first met (really just scared of the unknown), now she loves her HK Tactical and says she is gonna get me a gun every x-mas (already got me an 870 for the first one :p One of my Texas born female co-workers loves to shoot skeet and trap.

So yeah, they raise 'em right, here in Texas!

Being single I'll go one better Move to Texas.
When I visited Dallas many years ago the ladies were beautiful. Gun friendly and beautiful, can't beat that.

Normally I wouldn't go out of my way to say this, but this peacefulJeffery guy... I literally can't remember one single post by this guy where he had something nice to say to anyone. Ever.

To keep this on topic, I'll add that we raise them right in SC too. :D My girlfriend of 5 months only fired a gun one time, when she was very young, but she is indifferent to my collection, and when she found out I carry, her comment was "..... well.... hmm.... I guess I should be happy about that". She doesn't want to go to the range yet, but I'm working on it.

Way, way out of line, Jeffy.

QuarterBoreGunner has already recounted why he has, and how he obtained his CCW on this forum and a few others.

Do a little searching and you will find it easily...I would think that no one would want to go about obtaining a CCW in the manner in which he was forced.

QuarterBoreGunner has my utmost respect and sympathy.

You Jeffy, oughta...well Art's gramma is here, so I won't say it.
