FWIW, I've handled both the SCAR and the FS2000. I consider the FS2000 to handle like a large dead fish. Maybe like an asian carp? The SCAR in contrast felt great, the buttstock did not feel at all bulky to me.

SCAR. For that price, I want as much quality assurance as possible and the SCAR is more of a known quantity in that regard.

I am very pleased with my Bushmaster 16" Patrolman. My 20" Bushmaster needed repair work on the upper right out of the box. So, for a bit more than $1,500 I'd be more likely to pick up two more Patrolman than one ACR from Bushmaster.

I'd be tempted for a SCAR though, because it is more tested, and because it is so damn ugly it's actually appealing.

What does either rifle offer that the AR doesn't, especially for 3000 bucks?
Read the OP please. BTW one thing they offer is a weapon designed from the ground up with a gas piston system.

I voted for the FN SCAR, specifically the 17S (7.62x51mm). I don't need/want another 5.56x45mm semi-auto rifle since I have three already (two are GP variants) and the 6.8mm SPC isn't all that interesting to me. For $1,500 I'd buy an FN SCAR 17S today!! I handled both the SCAR and the ACR at the SHOT show and much preferred the look and feel of the SCAR. The reciprocating charging handle on the SCAR isn't a big deal for me either compared to the static handle on the ACR. Magazine compatibility may be a future issue for some. The FN rep told me that the 17S magazine is proprietary and I'm not sure about the ACR.

:)

I voted for the ACR, even though its not yet available, I love magpul products, and quality. Both rifles available in 1 in 7, the ACR is also available in 1 in 9 twist. Im sure real world prices will be much lower than the MSRP, they always are. This was demonstrated by the SR556, what was it 300-600 lower than msrp?
Id have to check them both out in person, but right now Im going with the ACR.
I dont see anything on Bushmasters website about the rifles weight, but on Remingtons site it says 7lbs empty.
From FNs site, SCAR carbine "Weight: 7.25 lbs. empty" directly from their website.

Apparently that is more of a future goal than an actual accomplishment, though Bushmaster has indicated that when it does eventually produce a 7lb ACR it will start offering those for sale.

As released March 1, 2010 though, the ACR weighs 8.2lbs empty. The extra weight was added (again according to Bushmaster) because the ACR kept breaking and had to be strengthened. You can read all of this in the Q&A thread in the Industry forum at AR15.com if you are interested.

SCAR - I dislike being jerked around regarding price, specs, and release date. Also FN is right up the road from me so that's pretty cool :)

Out of curiosity, why are people even knocking the SCAR for having a reciprocating charging handle? So does the M1 Garand, M14/M1A, Sig 550/556, AK, etc. I've never heard anyone raise that gripe about any of those rifles. I guess it's nice not to have, but personally I'm already used to it anyway.

I'd have yet to even touch either rifle, so I'll refrain from voting just yet. But, the SCAR is being tested by the Army and may very well be adopted, at least by SOCOM. If the military is even looking at the ACR, I haven't heard of it.

SCAR, so far as I can tell.

Have shot the SCAR-L, liked it a lot. Have the feeling, like others have noted, that the ACR just isn't delivering on the hype that surrounded it.
