my first choice would be the PC9, it's more reliable, takes hi capacity mags, better quality & durability! it may cost more but when your life's at stake leave nothing to chance...

plus the PC9 can use +P or +P+ ammo ! rugers have a reputation for durability, they are built like a tank.

I'd grab my Hi-Point for sure (I don't own a PC 9) but that's because it has proven itself over and over - totally reliable with whatever I run through it and accurate at 40 yards as any gun I've ever owned. ;)

I'm not an expert on either, but having shot both of them for the first time on Sunday.......I'd have to go PC9. I have a Ruger P95 so it just makes sense since I can use the same mags (well...that's what I was told anyway).

The High Point was remarkably accurate though.....right on par with the PC9.
SHTF?
How about I keep the PC9 and sell the High Point to some blithering anti who's crying that he needs a gun? I think $675 would be a fair price, don't you?

PC9 fo sheezy

(in modern parlance)
My pc9 hasn't missed a bit since i got four new factory mags and four hicap factory prebans. Heck of a lot of money. But knowing the grifle will feed factory perfect every time is a comforting thought. Zero hasn't strayed at all since i took my red dot scope off. I am a HUGE fan of the PC9 and would only add one thing to it, some nice dot sights for quicker/night shooting.

neither one...I would reach for a Kel-tec s2k in 9mm...Hi caps are easy to find and it shoots better than I do..

AND IT FOLDS IN HALF!!!!! :D

I feel dumb... but what's a PC9?
Giga .. Ruger's PC9 (oops - see below) Camp Carbine in 9mm. Great little shooter ..... makes the very best of the humble 9mm Parabellum. I find mine with a red dot is a real tack driver.

Opps, as Min pointed out ... this is MARLIN Camp carbine .. not PC9 ... excuse old and faded brain cells!!

Well spotted Min .... oops ... total brain fart!! Funny ... get one thing lodged in brain (cell) and keep on makin same mistake over and over!! Maybe I do have too many guns!:D A look at barrel of course would be a good reminder.

Spot .... note this ole phart's total inability to properly name what he is using ...... I must get back on the med's. Sorry if confusion caused .. I'll go edit my last post. But you liked it anyways, yeah?

<creeps off into corner, head hangin .. red face ... shame at ineptitude> :D

Although my Hi-Point has proven to be quite reliable and just as accurate as my Ruger, I would definitely grab the Ruger PC9 . Mainly because of the numerous 15-,20-, and 30-rd mags I have for it. It would also make a much more effective club, if it got to that. ;)

P95,
No worries...that marlin is a sweet rifle...one of my shooting buddies has a camp .45 with a red dot on it and it's a blast at the range.:D

FN FAL Carbine!

I can't quite decide what I'd rather touch off with unprotected ears in a small room...flash bang or Carbine FAL. Both are pretty nasty!:D I'd rather shoot my little 9mm AR indoors all day long than pop a couple of rounds off in my DSA FAL Carbine.

Good Shooting

I must admit that since I own a P89 and have many mags for it I would definetly go with the PC9.

hi caps

I dunno if I'd reach for the PC9 due to the high caps.
I got some thirty runders with the gun and have had many problems with them.. I heard others with same complaints too.
The 15 roudners from sportsmans guide are 10 bucks... I grabbed four of those.
I also picked up a couple of factory ruger 10's from the same palce for 16. It's hard to beat those prices.

BUT, the sportsman's guide has a rock solid guarentee regarding customer satisfaction. So next I am going to purchase seom of THEIR twenty and thirty roudners and see how they do.

I would skip the above mentioned options, and outfit my family with AK's, shotguns, and pistols. I see no practical use for a pistol caliber carbine.:neener:

No flame intended....But my collection contains neither of the guns mentioned in this thread. It does, however...contain a few AK's, shotguns, and pistols.:)

AK's for Home D?

You realy want that 30 cal bullet flying around your home???? Hope you got thick walls. Get your family body armor too.

I'd rather have 9mm Hydrashocks......

Mayby somebody could point out where but I have read several articles that the .223 penetrates walls less than the 9mm. Of course I read it on the internet.

For this discussion---the PC9 is clearly the better weapon.

BUT--that's a big BUT---if S is actually HTF-----I won't be using no little popgun----and at minimum an AR or AK will be pressed into service.

Now for civilian home defence in normal times---the PC9 would be good choice-----but not for SHTF times.

hi caps in the PC9

I only use factory magazines or MEC-GAR 15 & 20 rd mags, they are very reliable, Do Not use any cheap aftermarket mags in the PC9 like USA, Western, etc, only use factory Ruger or MEC-GAR for the best reliability
