...on reflection what fun is owning just one LOL???

Just curious as to what folks like in .22lr revolvers...

In the market for one, most likely with a 6" barrel, and having a hard time choosing a make/brand.

The S&W 17's are awful nice. I have looked at Colt Diamondbacks - and choke on the prices they are getting for em.

I recently fired a couple hundred rounds out of a Ruger Single Six... fun... AND accurate.

I own a couple S&W .38/.357 K bodies, so maybe I should just stick with S&W?

Looking forward to your thoughts,

S&W 35-1, 6" barrel on a J frame.

These are some of the best 22s ever made for just all around shooting, they can hunt, target shoot, plink, they just work and do so simply.

im a oldie revolver guy, i love my grandpa's S&W M10 snubbie that was his when he was a cop.

thats why i just got a H&R 622 the other day. 6shot, shoots s, l, and lr. slight smooth trigger in ether da or sa. and very accurate with just federal bulk packs. also loves the powder free agulla for killing rats.

i love the old S&W .22lr's and hope to own a 6incher one day as well.

Since you seem to like Smith's, I go for a blued Model 17 myself.

I choke on the prices for most of the Colt 22 handguns these days. However they are my first love and I do love my Diamondbacks. I actually prefer the 4" Blue Diamondback 22 as an everyday shooter.

My favorite is the H&R 999 Sportsman. Break top, 9 rounds. They are getting hard to find. My S&W Model 18 is a gem, but BIG bucks for these anymore.

If I could only have one, I'd come up with the funds for a Diamondback in .22. Love em! Maybe a Colt Trooper in .22.

Of course, if you're looking for an affordable gun, the Smith & Wesson 17s are some of the most loved .22 revolvers you'll find. So they're a close second to the Diamondback.

After that, I'd go for just about any other S&W, but especially the 34. The 617 is supposed to be nice too.

I own the following .22LR revolvers:

S&W 34-1 2"
S&W 63 4"
S&W 18-4
S&W 17-4
Ruger Bearcat
Ruger Single-Six Limited Ed. 4-3/4" stainless

I like/enjoy them all a lot, but if I could only have one I'd probably go with the Single-Six.

I've always wanted a 617... something about a 10 shot revoler that just turns me on.

Since you already own two Smith K-frames, why don't you get a K-frame .22 revolver to match. That way, you can practice for your 357/38s using cheap ammo.

I wonder if we can truly call the NAA a revolver: :scrutiny:

Ruger Bearcat

NAA Mini-revolver

Would John Wayne holster an NAA? :neener:

Six-Shot .22's

Really impractical with its target sights and 2" barrel; but I own a pristine
S&W model 34-1 "Kit Gun", that is factory nickeled and has a square butt.
You don't see many of these anymore, as they have been replaced with
the alloy frame S&W model 317~! :scrutiny: :( ;)

I guess it comes down to whether you want DA or SA. I happen to like SA and Ruger. I have 2 Single Sixes, 2 Bearcats and 1 Single Six Bisley. I love them all. With the Single Six you also get the added fun of shooting 22 mag.

Well personally I like the Bearcat, but that's as much because of it's size, weight and just plain "handyness" as anything else. They're good shooters too as is the Single Six in a slightly larger package.

But since you seem to like 6" D/A revolvers, the big Dan Wesson might be right up your alley. That is one smooth revolver, and shoots like a laser beam. If you can find one they're a lot less expensive than a comparable Smith and Wesson. Darn good guns.

I have a SW 17-6 with a 6" barrell and full underlug. I like it, but think it is a little nose heavy. My advice to you is to pick a revolver with a 4" bbl.

gcrookston,
Wow! That's four very nice 22s.
I don't want hijack a thread, especially in the revolver section, but (please forgive me) how does that Trailside compare to the 41? PM would be very appreciated.
Regards,
Greg

CajunBass - that's a nice trio as well.

My all-time favorite .22LR revolver would have to be my Single Six. Just something about a single action .22 that's both fun and nostalgic at the same time.

My Col Officers Model Match is my favorite.

Everytime I see one of these threads about 22s it drives me crazy. It gets me to thinking about my NIB Colt Diamondback 4 inch 22. Should I shoot it or sell it, I just can't make up my mind.

Good thing I have other 22 revolvers that keep my mind of it. I really like those K22s
