If you had to chose between the Colt Combat Commander in 45acp or the Glock 19 in 9m/m for your only and alway's what would it be?..

I have a good amount of experience with the G19 and the 1911 full size. I wouldn't hesitate to choose either one. The problem here is personal preference. I prefer the 1911, not because it brings greater raw utility, but rather because it just fits me better. Have you tried both models out? It is very important that you do.

Personally, the Colt. I just shoot them alot better (and enjoy shooting them more). The Commander is a great size that "feels" just right, which makes me wonder why I own a Government Model instead. But those are nice, too. :D

G-19, not really a caliber issue with me. I know it's treason but I just never cared for 1911's

I love my 1911, and have way more experience with it than with a Glock. If I can't do it with the 7 or 8 rounds in a single-stack, then I've got bigger problems to worry about.

Colt Combat Commander. It fits my hand better and I trust the 1911 in most any form over Glocks. No flame, I just don't really like Glock. I think their quality is probably OK but I don't like their safety set up. I'm an old guy, y'know. It's not that I couldn't learn new tricks, it's that I don't want to. Put a grip safety on a Glock (like Springfield's tactical tupperware) and we'll talk.

I may be one of the few who don't care for either Glocks or 1911s but I chose the G19 because I like the 9mm and I like having 15+1 as opposed to 7+1 and the Glock is lighter and is not SA. Glock also has a better grip angle than the Colt IMHO.

If I had to pick only one and be stuck with it as my only gun for the rest of my life? I'd pick the Glock, although I love 1911s in general and the Commander-sized ones in particular.

The Glock is lighter, more reliable, holds more bullets, is more corrosion-resistant, and shoots a much less expensive cartridge (which translates into more practice).

Most people seem to either really like Glocks or really dislike them. I voted for the Colt. ;)

If it was fill-in-the-blank, I'd have gone with either a Kimber or a Springfield, btw.

I voted Colt. Although I was really tempted to go outside the lines & add another gun to the mix...but I'll behave ;)

Colt. It's about caliber (yes, yes, I know. Shot placement is everything).

I'd take the 1911. Already have a polymer pistol

For always and only? Still a Colt.

Nobody here steals a second glance at a Glack. ;)

Glock 19. Already have a 17 and 26, so split the difference and I am a happy camper. Besides, I won't have to worry about swimming with the Glock on! ;)

I'm a 1911 guy, always have been but I also accept that some newer designs may (or may not ;) ) offer some things the 1911s don't. If it were my decision, I would go with the Commander in a heartbeat. If it were a carry weapon, after a good 300 rounds if it wasn't 100% reliable with my carry load of choice, I would have a bit of work done to it.

If I absolutely positively had to use it out of the box, I might look a bit harder at a Glock but probably the 36 or the 30.

The G19 simply because its easier to maintain, cheaper to shoot, higher potential ammo capacity.

I don't like Glocks - but that's a personal preference. I would rather have a 45ACP than a 9mm. That's just common sense!

Up until a couple of years ago, before I got my CHL, I'd have said the Colt no question. If I were to strictly shoot on the range with no carry, the 1911 is more fun and esaier for me to shoot. Now that I have my CHL though, I'd say the G19.

I have a SA champion GI that shoots great and I love. I recently picked up my first Glock, a G19. I have Milt Sparks VMII's for both and a Beltman belt. I much prefer carrying the G19, simply because of the weight issue. For some reason, once I get a gun above about 25oz, I just don't like it on my belt. I shoot both equally well. I like the feel of the 1911 much better, and of course it's .45. But the weight and capacity favors the G19.

Glad I don't have to have just one. My G36, PM9, and 3AT get all my carry duty now though.
