Hard choice, I'd rather have the Colt for the gun that it is, but the Glock for the 9mm as I prefer 9mm because of cost of ammo. I didn't choose either.

Colt commander or Glock?

Colt. I don't have a problem with a handgun up to about 40-45ounces on my belt, and a full size government pistol comes in at about 40 ounces. A commander should come in a bit below that. I am fully comfortable carrying a 5" gubmint .45 when carrying.

I have an XD9, similar in size to the Glock 19, and I just don't carry it. Weight is about the same as a commander 1911 when loaded, so the plastic fantastics don't win a lot with weight unless they are empty, or single stacks.

I'd pick a 1911 over a Glock. The 1911 has is all, relaibility, ergonomics, a nd a fantastic trigger.

Hard decision. I choose Glock 19. I love the 1911 too, and colt is a great company. If the choice were a Les Baer, Ed Brown or Kimber I would have picked the 1911. But the Glock 19 with fewer parts, cheaper ammo, higher capacity, lighter, and definately indestructable I went with it instead. Once again a hard decision. Either are terrific handguns.

P.S While I love Glocks, Especially the 19 and have many, I actually shoot my 1911's better.

Though I have not owned a Glock, I have shot them. For me the grip angle is not right, but a 1911 fits like a glove. I have 2 1911s, one a government model and one a commander, and love them both. For me it is a 1911 choice.

That's a tough one, but if this is a Mad Max scenario I'll have to take the Glock. More ammo capacity, probably more durable, and easier to clean and maintain. I shoot the 1911 best but have a G17 in my Bug-Out-Bag.

Choose the one you can afford to shoot now, and pick up the other later on down the road.

It really depends on the situation but in the end I prefer the Colt in general.

If the gun is for a SHTF type situation I would probably go with the Glock 19 but I would rather have the 17.

I like the 1911 for normal everyday use.
