It is called "Workplace Enforcement." Really novel concept.

Wal-Mart Receives Target Letter From U.S.

Nov 4, 10:31 AM (ET)

By CHUCK BARTELS

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc. said Tuesday it has received a target letter from the U.S. Attorney's Office saying the world's largest retailer allegedly violated federal immigration laws.

"The company is the target," Wal-Mart spokeswoman Mona Williams said.

On Oct. 23, federal agents arrested about 250 allegedly illegal workers in a 21-state sweep of Wal-Mart stores.

Federal prosecutors in Pennsylvania are handling the case. Williams said company executives are not the subject of the inquiry.

"Wal-Mart was not surprised by this formal notification since it is in keeping with comments made by federal officials after the raids," Williams said.

She said Wal-Mart received the letter Friday and the grand jury will look at whether the company "violated federal immigration laws in connection with the use of third-party floor cleaning contractors."

The raids focused on floor cleaners employed by companies Wal-Mart hired for the work. Ten of those arrested were Wal-Mart employees hired as the company continued a move to bring its floor cleaning in house.

Wal-Mart expects the grand jury to begin its hearing in mid-December, Williams said. "This notification gives us time to provide the U.S. Attorney's Office information we feel supports our position."

Before the '04 Election rolls around we'll see not only another amnesty, under another name, but an integration of Social Security with Mexico. Wal-mart is neither the problem nor the answer to this situation. Sound and fury, nothing more.

Obvious solution: fine each employer $100,000 for each illegal alien on his pay roll. In six weeks, you'd be hard-pressed to find an illegal alien anywhere—but of course, representatives of the Democratic (sic) party are counting on their votes.

It's all done for show. After another bust or two for ABCCBSNBCCNNFOX news, INS will be done with it.
Bottom line: No real effect on illegal immigration or those that hire illegal immigrants.

And someone is certainly expecting to garner some votes because of this, as well.

Edited to add last line.

Hell, the feds could arrest a few hundred illegals if they raided the parking lots of my local Home Depot stores..... It's like a plague.

Only ten were employees of Wal-Mart? In a 21 state sweep? That's .476 illegal employees per state. WOOHOO!!! Our illegal immigration problems ARE OVER!!!!!
