SPRINGFIELD, Mo. Senior Wal-Mart executives allegedly knew cleaning contractors were hiring illegal immigrants.
And a federal affidavit says the executives even let the immigrants sleep in the backs of stores sometimes. In 2003, federal immigration officers raided 60 Wal-Mart stores in 21 states and arrested two-hundred-45 illegal workers.
The discount retailer agreed to pay eleven (m) million dollars in March to settle the case. But it said top executives didn't know anything about it.
In the affidavit, investigators said testimony and taped conversations from 2003 show two executives at Wal-Mart headquarters knew about the illegal workers.
Wal-Mart, however, denies there is any incriminating evidence in the affidavit.
