I watched the immigration protest thread go past 300 posts...

Now congress is talking about doing something. :what:
Whatever they will do is going to be some forrm of compromise. In other words they will not propose a workable solution.

With close to 300 million people in the country society is burdened with probably at least 20 million illegals and the number is growing more than a million a year, when are the wheels going to come off our dysfunctional government? Will it be when 10% of our population is illegal or more or less?

If we eliminated the burden of government our economy might just be able to support all this immigration.

So, I ask, what really is the cause of this. What created the symptom we now confront in the form of illegal immigration?

Companys like Tyson Foods brought the onslaught to Arkansas, we are one of the fastest growing Mexican populations in the USA today I believe. Cheap labor, no benefits=big money for corporations.

You know, the idea of illegal workers taking over the "jobs we don't want to take" reminds me of the movie/novel "The Sand Pebbles." In that, the U.S. Navy gunboat let the Chinese coolies take over the jobs the sailors didn't want to do. This included cooking, stoking the boilers, mechanical maintenence, painting, chipping etc. Ending eventually in disaster. What happens now if we follow suit and let them come in unchecked and they decide, which they will, to unionize?

Too liberal social programs.

SS, welfare, medicaid, no-child-left-behind, EIC, food stamps, etc, etc, etc

I agree 100%. I believe if if we got rid of the welfare state it would get rid of most of our illegal immigration problems.

Illegal immigration is a symptom of other countries that just plain suck, and will continue to suck, until their people are here, and are voting, and getting elected to office, so they can make it suck here in 50 years. Joy.

South and Central America, Africa, the Middle East... they all suck.

Democrats listened to the social engineers instead of American citizens.....

Republicans listened to big business instead of American citizens....

American citizens stopped watching their own government and went about their own selfish interests....

...and the government stopped representing American citizens and represented only itself & its own selfish interests.

the unholy union of:

globalist corporatists,
leftist social engineers,
scumbag employers,
compassionate fools,
corrupt selfish politicians,
the welfare nanny state,
loss of national identity as globalism creeps in,
the church grabbing more power and minions,
failed economy and government in foreign countries.

Jammer Six.... Give it a break already!!! I read all of your spouting on the other thread. "Give me your tired...etc", this came from Ellis Island. where Immigrants were PROCESSED LEGALLY. They were not running across the border by the thousands a day. I'll tell you what, if you feel so sorry for these poor illegal aliens, we hava an illegal alien brought in by the Tarrant county sherrifs Dept. for DUI. He started to have chest pain while in custody, turned out he was having a major heart attack, brought on by being an alcoholic & smoking for 30+ years (he's 55 & unemployed). Anyway, they could not fix his coronary arteries in our Cath lab, so off to surgery he goes. They bypass 4 arteries in his heart, & he remained on the baloon pump for 3 more days. 4-5 days later he goes into Renal failure & is now on Hemodialysis 3 days a week!! Also from all his drinking, he has cirrhosis of the liver. All told he has spent 28 days in our hospital, 18 days in our CCU....... All this time, equipment & effort by the hospital & staff has run up a bill of $147,354.00........ He is still hospitalized too!!! So, dig REAL deep into thos liberal pockets of yours & help that little hospital out, whada you say?????? ;) Remember, this is just ONE man in ONE hospital. Multiply this & you see why there are many border hospitals shutting down & unable to care for US Citizens....

Mexico's crappy economy.

And you'd think they'd actually be trying to fix the problems at home instead of causing more over here. And I don't buy that line about them taking jobs that Americans don't want to do. Americans were doing those jobs before they got here but the flood of cheap labor put them out of on the street. It's a justification for the creation of a modern slave class.

And you'd think they'd actually be trying to fix the problems at home instead of causing more over here.

Think about it. Why should Mexico spend time and money to fix a problem when the people who are unhappy about the situation just leave the country and send money back? Where's the incentive to fix anything?

What do you folks always say when someone complains about his state’s gun-control “laws”?

They say to move, legally, to another state in your own country
where you speak the same language, and pay taxes and where
you don't have to live 30 to a house, or stand on a street
corner looking for day work.

Uhm, well, no, when you've been here a while, you'll see that that's not what they say at all. Not even close. :)

Does everyone know how to use the "ignore" feature? One way to get rid of a troll. Something to consider?
Ignoring the symptoms of a sickness won't make the sickness go away.

You must fight the sources of the sickness, people like Jammer Six that hire illegal aliens to the detriment of all US citizens. They are actively working against the people of the US in treasonous behavior, and we must not ignore them, we must fight them.

Immigrating legally is not exactly easy even for a relatively affluent, well-educated person. I expect it’s close to impossible for someone who is poor and barely literate. Thankfully, we don’t share the “illegal” immigrants’ dilemma, but we shouldn’t let that fact stop us from blaming them for our problems.

/*You know, the idea of illegal workers taking over the "jobs we don't want to take*/

Anyone who has suffered through any of the Reality shows such as "Survivor" or "Fear Factor" darn well knows that most Americans would do anything if it pays well enough.

I was here, right next to a huge meatpacking plant when they closed the doors twenty some years ago to bust the Union. They never had any jobs there that Americans didn't want to take when it paid well and had great benefits. Anyhow, after some corporate sleight of hand that had packing plants being bought and sold for a dollar to circumvent the unions coming back on board, they used Federal money to hire and train people for six months to work in the reopened plants. I was looking for a job at the time, but my application was thrown in the "loser" pile because I had enough earnings reshingling barns, feeding hogs, driving delivery trucks and whatever.

Two weeks after the first six months were up, they needed a new set of employees and they called me. I said "No thanks, I have a job as a maintenance man at a factory." They asked me to prove it, and I told them to go pound sand, they should have hired people that they wanted to keep as employees the first time around, instead of chery picking the two guys who were sitting next to me, who couldn't remember the place that they got fired from last, but qualified for Federal freebies.

Anyhow, no one who used to work there at the meatpacking plant would come back for less pay, so the law of suply and demand would have decreed better working conditions, benefits, and wages, maybe not at Union scale (not a big fan of Unions, for the most part), but enough to make it worth being crippled at the age of 50. However, these plants sidelslipped that law and all others by becoming employers of illegals.

Not only can you hire illegals at lower wages and benefits (the U.S. government can pony up the rest in free health care and food stamps), but if you get any agitators, you can have the INS remove him with just a simple phone call...
