Scholarships to Illegal Immigrants
A federal court ruling in Virginia that allows colleges to deny admission to illegal immigrants could spur public debate in Nevada, where children of illegal immigrants can qualify for a $10,000 scholarship under a state program that went into effect in 2000.

Supporters of the policy say that "children of illegal immigrants shouldn't be punished," and that "we all suffer when quality students in our community are prevented from going on to higher education and realizing their potential."

"No we don't," counters Vin Suprynowicz. "The notion that the government is doing us a favor by looting as much as they deem necessary from our paychecks to feed, clothe and school the children of the drunken, the dissolute, the shiftless, the illegitimate and the criminal -- spreading the wealth of the nation as evenly as possible, like spreading manure on a field -- has a name. It's called 'socialism.' Or, in less euphemistic parlance, 'communism'...children of illegal immigrants are in fact...illegal immigrants. And there's no exemption from the immigration laws for people under 21 or under 12 ... I checked."

Interesting... this country is a boiling pot after all. Born in American -- American... no matter who your parents are?

Scholarships? Yes... GOVERNMENT scholarships... hm, not sure about that one... taxes shouldn't pay for those who don't pay taxes.

If those children were born in the United States, they're US citizens, not illegal immigrants even if their parents are illegal immigrants.

If they weren't born in the US and are here illegally, then they shouldn't get the same benefits of a legal resident of the US.

The children of illegal immigrants comment is just someone attempting to distort the facts.

Whoa... I like this guy!

I love this country and I am thankful everyday that I live in the USA...

At the risk of being flamed to death, In my opinion, if you are here illegally, and you give birth, the child should be not be granted citizenship. A lot of people will disagree with me, so be it. Thats the way I see it.

Yep, that's using common sense. Unfortunately the laws don't have much and the courts have even less.

You are not alone, brother.

I'm afraid citizenship is a concept that is going to disappear before it's resurrected.
